Thank you for my big hello Kerfuffle, it's been great fun reading everyone's status's.
I have been watching the pennies all day today. I finally openend the emergysmart monitor and have been watching the pennies go up and then down again when we switch things off. It's been great, even got my DD2 (age 7) switching lights off so the "pennies go down".
really looking forward to this. It's so much fun!!0 -
Can I join to please
? I'm doing a challenge of my own, plus The Sealed Pot Challenge...would love to do this too :j...Never thought of thinking of everything in pennies, instead of pounds and pence before ....
I've already helped 10 lonely pennies into my pot today, to keep the rest company...It's the decent thing to do.

Well a chicken curry would be around 350p I think, a tin of soup is around 80p and stock cubes are about 160p for 8. I've no idea what a pie would cost, but you've saved quite a few pennies I'd say!
I just made 2 pots of soup, 1 tomato, 1 mushroom and that's about 10 portions. At 80p a tin, that's 800p, but I paid 100p for the mushrooms and 160p for tomatoes as I already had all the other ingredients. So I've saved 540p on that.
I've made 2 tubs of tomato sauce using onion, garlic & tinned tomatoes that I already had in my cupboards. If I'd bought a sauce that would be around 300p for 2 tubs at my local store, so in total I've saved 840p today for only a couple of hours' work.
I still have more sauce to make but I'm running out of empty takeaway tubs to use for freezing my soup and sauces!
Thanks for the calculations buffster, I feel so inspired to do more :Tmiss_empty_piggy wrote: »Thank you for my big hello Kerfuffle, it's been great fun reading everyone's status's.

Captured an escaping penny there, the wee thing was out for a joyride in my car, but I caught it on the floor!!
There is NO hiding pennies!! Im out to get you all!!
And I saved loads of pennies in MrT's on Monday, got a £1.39 bag of potatoes for 25p, two packs of finest pork chops at over £3 each for £69p each, a pack of mince from nearly £3 for 50p.
Oh, and a guy at work who is a beater (beats the ground during phesant season) in his spare time, he gave me a bit of phesant and a goose breast :j
DH will be very very pleased tonight when I get home with it! No idea how many pennies I have saved there, don't ever buy phesant or goose xCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
Caught this thread by accident when browsing during my lunch hour and had to read the whole thread back when I got home. This thread is absolute therapy as I kept finding myself chuckling along at the idea of holding pennies prisoner and only letting them out on parole!! Laughed even more when I remembered the penny in my jacket pocket that I picked up on my way to work this morning - it is now joing others plus 2ps and 5ps in my change jar!
also to the poster who nearly picked up chewing gum thinking it was a coin - I've done this with a chocolate button once, so embarrassed:oEvery penny's a prisoner
PADding is addictive

can I join please?!
I've been looking for something else to keep me motivated and this might do the trick!
At the moment I pay stuff with my cashback cc, transfer the said amount to a separate account and then pay the cc off when it comes in. Think I might round up my transfers to the nearest pound and over the piece might have a good wee amount!!
Brilliant - thanks!! My gran used to always say "look after the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves".. true!Debt Free Roll of Honor #598

Dont shoot me but last week coming out of cinema i saw a twenty pence piece on the floor and walked
Past it. I am an awkward walker and use a walking stick and could barely walk quickly enough to not get trampled by others leaving the cinema...but its bugged me all week that i didnt go back for it when the crowds diminshed lol!
Today i found i had about 270 pennies in an old money box. Ive bagged it up and am aiming to carry on saving me copperes in the money box. When i get a tenner or so i will take them to the bank or post office.
Speaking of which, where is the best place to deposit them...bank or post office. I used to get glared at in post office queues, maybe things are better these days now so many of us are skint.Every penny's a prisoner!
