When I had my LBM, I started my debt free wannabe days looking at those £ signs and breaking out it a cold sweat........how much?????

We all put a lot of pressure on ourselves to get rid of those £ signs and maybe even try to pay more off than we can actually afford. I look in awe at some of the payments people manage.

Personally, I can't do that and at the end of the day, those £'s are really just made up with pennies!

So that's the aim of this thread. Taking care of the pennies and letting the pounds take care of themselves or just making one penny do the work of two!

Come join me if you want.
You'll not get a number and you'll not have any pressure to pay X by Y.
Just add the motto to your signature and maybe pop in here once in a while to let us know how you're doing by taking care of those pesky pennies.

Morning Freeby, I'll join you, and my start to the caring for the penny's started yesterday, with my Tatco delivery, I ordered 2 tray's of the 15 value egg's 'cause it was 50p cheaper than getting the 30 tray.

  • Morning Freeby!

Great idea for a thread. We save all our 1p, 2p and 5p's and then bag 'em and bank em' before paying it off the mortgage:).

i collect pennies off the street too (obv. larger coins are always preferred;)) to add to the collection.

  • Hello!
Well, I used my loyalty points to buy something online for 'free' a couple of days ago. (No p&p or any extra payment needed - my points covered the whole lot - yippee).

I also collect my bronze coins (when I remember) in a massive glass spaghetti tube.
Never fill it because it gets very heavy!
Have only cashed it in twice in several years so far as I don't use cash much.

i'm also going to save all those odds and ends left over in accounts when all bills are paid etc and putting them in a separate account to pay off mortgage at end of each month. Started that yesterday. 20p in there so far!! :rotfl:

    Hello everyone

I'm glad that this thread interests some people :)

Today I made an overpayment of £21.93 to my catalogue, thats 2193 pennies less in debt.

It looks better when you remove the point and the £ sign....don't ya think? ;)

Also two thousand, one hundred and ninety three sounds much better than twenty one ninety three.

It's all psychological, but it's working for me :)

    Im in for this one!!

I gained approx 800 pennies at the weekend! Found my sisters old penny jar at the back of a cupboard, counted it all and managed to make 8 bags up :j

DH thinks I should have given it back to her, but seeing how she moved out about 7 years ago, I have claimed it as mine! Is that wrong???
Can't think of anything smart to put here...
