    Im in for this one!!

I gained approx 800 pennies at the weekend! Found my sisters old penny jar at the back of a cupboard, counted it all and managed to make 8 bags up :j

DH thinks I should have given it back to her, but seeing how she moved out about 7 years ago, I have claimed it as mine! Is that wrong???

  • I think there's something in thinking about money in terms of pennies rather than pounds.
Also makes me think twice about spending, after all 12,000 pennies sounds much worse than £12 right?!

I'd love to join in, please

Yesterday I received £1.46 credit to my bank account :T
    I'm 146 whole pennies richer :)

The whole 146 pennies (rather than £1.46) sounds amazing.. going to start looking at it this way now!! :money:

I bought a different sandwich today and saved 25 pennies (got a festive turkey and cranberry sandwich for 1st December).
  • I've saved about 300 pennies by bringing in a packed lunch...if I do this for the rest of the month, will total around 6,000 pennies.
  • I'm in. I became debt free (mortgage excepted) yesterday, but I now have to save for a car and to get some work done to my flat. After that I will be making an attempt to overpay and clear my mortgage.

Circumstances really forced me into putting all my resources into becoming debt free by the end of this year, as I now have a 160 mile round trip to work and as of today my relocation cash is finished and I'll have to pay the petrol costs myself. That's why I'm saving for a more economical car!

I didn't really use this site during the past year but I wish I had as I might've been debt free even sooner. One of the things I read on here and did use during the past year, was the Pay When You Can method. For me, this meant paying any spare or extra cash to my debt, even if it was only a few pennies.

I'd have frittered it away before as it was only pennies, but it's easy to forget how these pennies mount up over time and do make a significant impact on debt. I saved lots of pennies by taking in packed lunches.

I've been saving 1p, 2p & 5p coins for a few months and I'm going to open the container at the end of Nov 2012 to help pay for Christmas presents. Likewise, I started saving £2 coins this week and I'm going to open that at the end of next November as well. I haven't decided what I'll use that cash for yet.

But taking care of the pennies definitely works!

Hmm I might count up out change pots as well and bank those (flinging the banked stuff at the CC, we have two debts, my CC and the mortgage, we are throwing spare money at both!)
