Anyone here going to be in Vienna on Jan 16th, as I will be free in the evening :)

The idiots booked a lunchtime session before checking with me what time I could get there, and are now asking me to get a 6.50am flight. Which I am refusing to do, as it means getting up at 4am, and they're an hour ahead of me. I am NOT happy, and seriously considering asking my boss to retract his approval of the trip (particularly as he has already threatened to do this due to lack of completed paperwork as flights should have been booked today...).
Well since your boss is not pushing for you to go, in fact quite the opposite, I think you should consider asking him to cancel.
It doesn't sound as if their arrangements are going to do your health any good.

I'm sure they'll sort it out once we've made them suffer :D

In the meantime I think I might be using the word matrix a little too often in the paper I'm currently writing :rotfl:

Have I told you that about 15 years ago I pledged that for a whole yesr I will include the word 'love' in all my writing. Now if I were writing romantic novels this is not a problem; writing sociology and philosophy of science is a bit of a challenge. It worked - and made my life much more interesting.

Hope you sleep FW. I've had to stop working or I won't get up tomorrow, but one paper has the first draft completed, and another is done to the point where I know what the issues are with it. The other thing that should have been done today was gathering all the material for a third paper, so that needs to be done on Tuesday... I don't like starting the year behind, but I guess I'll catch up sometime.

House reorganisation is still progressing, but I hate the fact that while it is ongoing the whole place is a mess as there is stuff everywhere and it all has to be moved round. The sitting room, study, bathroom and loo are OK. Everywhere else is suffering and I need to decide what to prioritise in the morning.

And I really can't work out where a small purple towel has disappeared to. I'm obviously going to have to empty the airing cupboard completely tomorrow and hope that I find it! I only washed it a couple of weeks ago, and it hasn't left the house...
  • Good morning all :)

Hope you slept better FW x

I am "gestimating" that my legal bill for the big horse bank is going to be around £1000, so ............................ draw the horns in over January and build up my "emergency pot" as large as possible before they come looking for it. After all I no longer have a credit card to fall back on.

Or as we say up here "back tae auld claes and parridge"

Off to do the NYE cleaning - "oot with the auld and in wi the the new"

Like MG I'm going to spend the day cleaning (well probably mostly tidying, I may not get as far as cleaning). Over the weekend I want to get the house sorted as far as I can (there is some outstanding wiring to be done, two shelves to go up, a wardrobe to be delivered, decorating to be done and the utility room to be finished) so that I don't get depressed by the clutter and chaos. I also want to get my tax return done so that I can either pay the bill or know the money is on it's way back to me.

I might go out for a quick visit to the health food shop, but could probably manage until next weekend.

I also need to do some planning for next week so that I start exercising rather than sitting on the sofa :-)
