Good day in Doraville - gutted lounge and dining room and cleaned thoroughly, went scooting and skateboarding (early crimbo pressie for ds from friend) round park, just made a simple Christmas cake with dd and feeling much more Christmassy. Also walked to shop to get 2 ingredients we forgot - new resolution to walk more and use car less. Have also started recording daily spends since I will be the complete money boss since dh has handed over his card.

Just made tablet (thanks MG) and as dd described "it is just like heaven" - can't see it lasting till Christmas day unless I lock it away somewhere!
    Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
    Emergency fund £1000/£1000
    Savings for big things £9017
  • Hi
Thank you so much for the warm welcome J

Today has been really busy with ‘errands’. Initially not looking forward to it but DD decided to come too and we had a lovely day chatting and catching up. That’s what’s important isn’t it – all the hustle and bustle of Christmas all around us but we were in our own little world!!

Savingforarainyday – I have updated my signature (I think!) and you’re right. I am accepting the fact that I will not be able to pay off as much as I would like in December. HOWEVER – I have decided to make payments to both CC to ‘round’ the amounts outstanding. That means that although I am not paying as much as I would like I still feel as if I have achieved something.

Aesop – thanks for the link. Will be joining in for January 2012

Maryb – have found the Frugal Queen Blog – WOW!

Off to make a shopping list for ‘Christmas Desserts’ We are off to inlaws for Christmas and we are in charge of puds for 14! Christmas cake and pud are done (not by me!) My FIL is celiac so I will be doing some GF. Shorlist is:

Sticky Date Cake & Butterscotch Sauce (GF Flour)

Pecan toffee meringue with mulled pears

    Mincemeat muffins (GF Flour)

    Baileys Ice Cream

Christmas Cup Cakes (not decided exactly what these invovle yet but cup cakes are ‘in’ at the moment so thought I would give them a go and put on tiered cake stand!)

Something with malteasers (love ‘em) any suggestions?

    It’s been a good day

I have just had the yummiest dinner!

My christmas food shop has just been delivered and because this past week the kids have ended up getting fed at MIL or SIL as DH was working, I have been eating SW meals I made for the freezer and as I result I had loads of veg left from last week. So I cooked and mashed the swede, then put 2 chopped courgettes, a yellow pepper, half a red pepper, an onion and a carrot in the oven with a spray of frylight - just had a plateful with lots of black pepper and it was absolutely delicious! also as its all 'free' food in the SW sense it makes me feel much less guilty about the 2 glasses of wine I've had :D

Leek & potato soup on for the kids lunch tomorrow and enough roast veg & swede for my lunch :D

That's what I call MSE. Good food, and no guilt about the wine! Well-done, you.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

Yes, either of those. Or both :rudolf:

Thank the Lord for speed reading - Scaredy, this lady is grabbing it by the scruff of the neck and getting on with it.:T

She has been left in a pants situation (post 177) and her SOA is screaming tight ............... but she knows come April life will so much better.

In your court scaredy, do you want to approach her on her thread or invite her over here? Either way I am certain she will see how I have been in the same situation and with the help of you guys have really turned it around.

Like someone said "Hand up - not Hand-out!!!" so exactly what we hope the Matrix will go on and do.
