You could try Neals Yard, they sell herbs and stuff online. If you have an Indian supermarket near you then the Fennel seeds might work out cheaper from there. Also poundland have some nice kilner type jars the tea would look nice in.

Interesting idea to think about longing. What I really long for, personally, is to do a PhD. It might be possible once my son is in full-time school. I had hoped to have another baby, but I don't see the sense in longing for that because I'm pretty certain it's not possible. My kidneys are too shot for now, and by the time I've had a transplant and recovered and waited a year, I'll be at least 40. I know people have babies at 40+ but it's not for me.

    Happy new thread!!!

I am in bit of a pieces. Talked to ex on the phone for an hour  Now I am extremely upset. He was ever so nice to me and I so want to believe him BUT he has been nice before and then called me following day a piece of !!!!!! from the gutter . Also I am super stressed about my exams :( So now I am watching celebrity on iplayer and drinking wine. No studying tonight :( but there might be some knitting later :)

From what you've told me don't ever believe a word that comes out of his mouth.

Do some knitting, clear your mind of thoughts of the ex and exams and start tomorrow in a better frame of mind. No point studying if your mind is elsewhere.

(((Marru))), good advice there from Bitsy, be gentle with yourself.

Was also watching the "Who wants to be a Millionaire" today on IPlayer......

Going to show my age now...... Does anyone remember Amway in the late 80s? Well I once went to an Amway Pep Rally in Bradford (of all places :rotfl:)in 1988 or 89. (Only ever went once I hasten to add and still regret the £10 I paid out, that I'll never get back ).

Well - never seen anything like it in my life - a theatre full of tribes of "yuppies", all in their sharp suits and narrow ties, chanting their slogans, hands in the air, cheering the God of Money....

Onto the stage, out of the mist, came the Emerald Speakers.... an American couple, late middle-age, with exquisitely coifed silver hair, praising God... In the background there was a slide-show, flashing images of mansions, expensive cars, jewels, luxury holidays, yachts.... All this could be yours - it was of course the American Way...

All this for selling a bottle of double concentrated floor cleaner to friends and relatives who didn't want it (but you would draft into your upline anyway) :rotfl: plus of course the ££££ you would spend on motivational tapes, books and training seminars....

Watching the programme this afternoon brought it all back, a bit of deja vu.... funny how these things repeat, well maybe not, given the fact we are or may as well be in recession. As they say, buyer beware... food for thought....

Wow Thrifty, you have put into words, my thoughts exactly.
You know each morning my inbox (email) is full of spam from motivational people selling that and this, they want to give me 12 pointers to be happy, how to do a 4 hour working week, how to conquer the world. And they always remind me of the old American guy with his wagon of Pots and Pans selling Dr Dakota's Miraculous tonic that cures everything from haemherroids to Syphilis.

You just pay £? and sign on the dotted line.
Forgive me for being a dyed in the wool cynic, but all these people seem to be making money from this motivational stuff. ANd most of it is just common sense anyway. The Secret was similarly marketed, but now its there for the reading, so people can take it or leave it.

Sometimes I just don't get it.

Fantasia... Remember, the thing about common sense is that it isn't very common. I'm sure you can come up with a few 'How to get rich' tips, do some viral marketing (not even spamming) and sell enough electronic copies (no production costs) at say £10 a go to make a nice little sum to help with Christmas... It's the same as all those 'miracle diet' ads, that probably when you subscribe tell you to move more and eat less! If you're not greedy in terms of the individual payments, but you get enough takers, you can make a lot of money. getting rich and getting thin are the two easiest targets for getting rich quickly...

plus you aren't a really mean money grabbing loon!

Self help is a difficult area some of it is great and can be life changing and other publications aren't worth the paper they are written on.
