  • Interesting thread today ladies.

Advent in the church is a season of longing for and awaiting. I've just been on a course where we were exploring this idea and encouraged to brainstorm what we longed for individually, collectively, and globally.

Collectively & globally we would, I hazard to guess, come up with pretty similar themes and wants. But individually - that is a big one. It something I'm going to give serious thought and time to these next few weeks, and be honest with myself over what I long for. Not a quick flippant answer but the ones my heart so wants, write them down, and then see how they shape my ideas, thoughts and behaviours in the next few months. New beginnings if you like.

I watched it last night. Fascinating - the ones who made it, did so because THEY DID SOMETHING. The ones that looked and sounded funny didn't get that changing your mentality (and the exercises, naff as these look) are important. But these are to complement acting rather than suplant it.

I would say that the main thing is to 'sell liabilities and buy assets'. Which is hard initially - until one builds a bit of capital. BTW we do play Cashflow - if you are looking for a family Christmas present this is a good one. DS3 will grow up to be a proper neo-liberal capitalist (this is said with mixed feelings; but then I do want to go to a nice old peoples' home).

DS1 says he's got us neighbouring rooms in a lovely one in Torquay - lovely views of the sea and too far away for him to visit us much. :rotfl: I've told him he is out of the will - and off my Christmas card list too!!;)

I vote we pick somewhere in the centre of the UK and build a Matrix Mansion where we can all grow old and wear purple together. BB would have nothing on us lot :rotfl:

Moam - I like the idea of a time of year where longing for and waiting is considered properly. I am a "Millenial" and I have noticed that for me longing for and waiting is (in my mind) very much a "bad". I'd like to change and start seeing in terms of the long game - not just my life now, but as part of a whole career, a whole life in which there will be time for so much - instead of just rushing through the "now" to get to the next thing... Very inspiring, thank you.

I'm a bad Mum - just resorted to telling DS2 that if he misbehaves the Christmas Fairies will see, tell Santa and he won't get a stocking.

In my defence it is way windy up here and always sends DS2 loopy if he is not out playing for the afternoon.
