Congratulations fantasia
Need to get my act together. I've had breakfast, so need to head to the post office, shop and maybe book bank... And then stop in the village for a coffee ... I really should go into town today too. I need to try to finish Christmas shopping and drop off dry cleaning. Oh... And take the dead microwave to the tip. The weather looks like being good today, so it might be a good idea to get some outside stuff done. And I need to make a call about getting the utility room finished and the trees shortened.0 -
Lovely sunny day - and as I need to be home for DS (school shut) - I've happily acquired another small person for the day. Both are now playing happily and it seems that for now I'm not needed
So I've some time extra at home this week and will do as much as I can - flung some laundry about and going to dig through to my desk in the dumping grounds aka my home office.
And its payday so best pay some bills, and see what's left for Christmas presents (only a few left to sort). And find those receipts for the expenses claim I need to submit..
MoamAlthough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.
Snowball says too far away, working hard to bring it forward.0 -
Focus more on income generation than on cutting back (I don't think you can cut back anymore unless you start making porridge from the sawdust generated bunging building work...)
Second this one - you all know I have been talking (no, more like shouting) about focusing on income for a long time. It is time - for all and each of us. How about this 'side hustle' then?

Nice shiny clean thread - just like my house will be the end of strike day - already got shiny new brown (no longer white and curly) hair, doing nails later and dh is throwing stuff around the house to tidy it.
Have listened to a lot of news about strikes today and grrrrr at a lot of it and am now trying to find a way to make up the £330 I am going to lose per month once all the changes come in. I am NOT going to be teaching in front of a class when I am 68 - it is not fair to me, not fair to all those young teachers who will be unable to find work, and most of all not fair to the children. So operation money making is going to start in earnest. (PS I have no problem going into other work later in life but the actual stand up teaching in front of a class will too demanding physically and emotionally when I am a Granny)Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

... Talking of which, update on the building work and prep for your lodgers please.
I wonder if the kids would notice :rotfl:
More pictures to follow - I blew the working light and got a new bulb through the post today so there really is no excuses for no photos now.

I agree - so time to report in:
1. Current state of play in Mortgage account £87.46 off having the first one percent of the capital stashed in there. So two weeks on Monday I should reach that target.
2. Everything bought to finish DS2's room. Lets agreed with college £125 per week for the two rooms up until the summer - which is percent 2 and percent three arranged.
3. Found an orphan "investment" account from when I taught an options course - £1300 being refunded. - so that's percentage 4 arranged.
4. Journalist has come up with three more articles - with the two I already have done (her aim is to find another couple to bring me up to £1250 in fees) So that is percentage 5
5. Contract for "Book of the Month" Mind maps has been expanded - so profit for the two years will yield percent 6 and percent 7.
6. Accountant has agreed that the Mind Mapping Books I have sold are personal income and not business income - so £970 being transferred over to mortgage account. So I need to sell another 23 books at £12.50 to make my 8th percent of the mortage capital.
So ..................................... only 92 more ideas to come up with :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

My biggest goal is to get this second draft chapter done and off to my supervisors on Friday of this week. I have about 2000 words to go, but a lot to tidy / rewrite. I am getting tired because I have worked every weekend on it for over a month. Also this week there are some things to do for this PhD conference I am co-organising in January. On Saturday my sister paid for OH and I to have lunch at a Jamie Oliver restaurant for our wedding present, so that a really big reward :j
Next week I have to write a short conference paper for 12th December for said conference. Then I have to start writing chapter 3 which will be due at the end of January. I would also like to re-write chapter 1 a bit for writing group.
Also I have some end of year challenges, I wanted to make my own sausages, make myself a pencil case and make my Gran a patchwork cushion cover for Christmas. Plus declutter the junk cupboard. A few bits are on ebay but I think it's got to be car boot for the rest. I found one you don't even need a car for! Hope to do that before Christmas.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -

Hello, another one like Minnime here, have seen bits of the previous threads and know a little bit about what you're 'about', but never managed to keep up. Hoping to do so with this one! Looking to inject some positivity (and action) into my life after a really tough year and there seems to be plenty of it round here!
