MG - The Matrix Re-wired

Fantasia, I have not been publishing here much either. It has nothing to do with what is happening here but it has all to do with the fact that I am pursuing my goals and there is not much left (not talking about time).
But I do read, post from time to time and if and when any members need support (that I specifically can offer) you know where and how to find me.
I am a member of the Matrix because there are no 'little people' in it - as I said in the programme document (check the other side) everyone is a hero; there are no victims. Equity or no equity! I will never believe that this is what defines people. The only thing that we should watch is a relentless speed - there is no coping with this one and we will end up burned out.
Sorry if this is a bit rabmbling but I am very, very tired. Need to chill.

Firewalker, we are all 'little people' in the grand scheme of things,
I cannot access the other side because my access is now non-existent, a fact I did make mention of when I split from Mr Fantasia and you PM'd me.
My point is that a lot of people have stopped posting regularly (me & you included). And I am wondering why. Is this matrix thing dead? (I'm tired too but heyho) and if it is, why is it, take a look at the other side and see who is posting, what the problems are and ask why people arent posting.
The Matrix is losing members and posters and its sad, and there is an answer if people just get real0 -
Fantasia - I'm not sure it's the matrix that has lost momentum, as lots of my regular haunts are pretty quiet. As for what people without equity and who rent do... Well, the matrix is about us sharing ideas, and we're all going to come up with ideas based on our own situation and experience. So those with equity will be thinking about how to make the most of that. But if other ideas come up, then if people feel they have input they will provide it.
It maybe that MG's quest to be mortgage free has changed the emphasis of the thread, but it's down to the community as a whole both here and on the other side to make it work - not just MG. People change over time, and their priorities change. Personally I'd love to see more on her blog, but know she has other commitments and priorities right now which need attention, and can't devote all her time to her blog just because I want to read it
Sometimes we're on the same journey, sometimes different ones but it doesn't mean we can't enhance each others' lives or add value to them. As I don't have debt, I sometimes felt excluded in the oats when the focus was on debt. But the important thing about the matrix is the ability to inspire new ideas. This time of year isn't the best for that kind of thing for most people, so maybe we need a period of rest and recovery in preparation for the year ahead.0 -
Thank you Greenbee, but still feel at loggerheads with what is being suggested.
Other people have given up, I feel at least I am querying things. MG's blog was a pure copy of stuff that we got last year at this time and thats fine, am just totally disillusioned with the tone of the thread and wonder why a lot of the old regs have disappeared0 -
Fantasia - I really do think people have disappeared at the moment because they're busy, tired and its winter. Lots of threads are quiet, and energy levels tend to be low at the time of year. Tings may change after the solstice. Personally I'm focussing on my health and work - the former because I have no choice, and the latter because at this time of year I have to plan for the whole of next year and get much of the work underway. So like FW, my energy is consumed by my own life for the moment. I don't feel that it is productive to try to force the matrix to engage or head in a particular direction. Although this may be a fallow period, I'm sure that things will pick up when the time is right. If everyone has had the low energy levels I've been feeling, I'm not surprised it's quiet, there have been times when I've wanted to post but haven't found the energy, and I haven't wanted to bring that lack of energy into the thread.
Ironically there have been a number of posts saying that people won't be posting so much because they've got other priorities now and the matrix has helped them find that. Which goes back to the discussion about always needing to attract new people, as this is the kind of thing that people need at a particular time in their life and often move through it. It's not just about MG - she will move on too. She's busier now already, and one day may not be here to start a new thread, because her life will have moved on beyond MSE (I guess ultimately that's all part of her aim, implicitly if not explicitly.
So how are we going to bring back positivity? Talking about what's not here won't help. Do you have an idea you want to discuss? Is there anyone else who has something they want to bring in?
This has kept me up past my bed time... I had to switch the router back on to post0 -
Thanks for your post Greenbee.
I am a newbie, old to mse but new to the matrix. I followed the trail from reading people's signatures and PMd MG.
I agree, it is that time of year when people have a lot going on, change of career, kids off school, etc. I don't always post as much on forums I regularly chat on.
And sometimes I don't want to post but am happy reading and thanking.
I sometimes feel as if I don't belong on this thread and shouldn't be posting, but then I think anyone feels like that when posting for the first time somewhere new. I always hope that we make these new posters feel welcome and not afraid to post.
I don't own my home and never will unless I win the DM christmas cottage... but I am in my own way trying to make my pennies and savings, and love reading everyone's ideas.
it was thanks to Horace, I decided to look into my local credit union, not made contact yet, but have printed the forms off. thanks to mizmir, I opened an account with the co-operative.
so we get something from everyone we come across.0 -
I have a couple of thoughts.
I have felt a little sad not to be on the 'other side' But then I don't have business plans that need protecting. (which I fully understand by the way). However I do think that sometimes people feel a bit left out, when people post about putting stuff on the other side...
On the other hand, I am grateful for the positivity of this thread, I take a lot from that. It makes me do at least one thing a day.
Because of this I got my son's application in for gifted school before the end of term. It means that if he is accepted he will be able to start in w1 of term 1 not wait a few weeks, and then be coming in at the middle again.
I too find hard to fit in the writing on threads sometimes, even my own. Also there is so much carp going on in the background, that if I think about it, I will just get stressed again, so don't mention it.
Erm sorry for rambling

Are we losing momentum, and where are all the regs that used to pop in like Essex Hebriddean, Psychopathbabble, Crafty Scholar, Squiz. Miss them all and the upbeat postings. But new people's posts are avidly read too. I'd post more but have nothing more to offer at the moment tthan my boring daily stuff. and I dont have the eloquence to express it and make it worth reading.
I am still around, but you young ones seemed to be so busy planning your careers and businesses that I went into lurk mode.
Plus at this time of year (and even more nowadays) my energy and positivity levels drop, which made me avoid posting when I could see people with real health problems still achieving so much.0 -
Morning all. I have been reading what was posted yesterday this morning - I am rarely on the thread late in the evening as I am an early to bed and early (often very early) to rise sort of girl.
The other side is very quiet too - I think everyone tends to be very busy this time of year in RL, whether for the season or working or looking after others or, not me, but I have heard rumours of this activity called socialising .
Seriously, I think we can get caught up this time of year, but as sure as day follows night a lot of us, me included, will get the usual wake up call and start making plans of some sort in the new year.
Now I am trying to pay off the last bit of my mortgage on my little house so that I can feel less pressure on fixed income in retirement, once more going to try and get some weight off and do more exercise, and think about how I plan to fill my previous working hours. Some of this isn't even in my head yet, let alone ready to commit to the page, and I think others will probably be in the same boat.
I think the impetus of K4K was great and have felt a bit flat after that, but happy to see what people are up to, contribute when I think I can (and that won't be about passive income streams or equity) and just read and support when I feel I have little to say.
I have looked at some of the more popular and busy threads on the rest of the forum, and having been there some bits I have decided to keep well away from, so perhaps we should accept that threads have their ebbs and flows.
On a more practical note today I am going to start a big loft sort out (I think GQ has already done it. Want to get the room ready as it is where I craft, so when I get my mojo back in the new year it will be ready to go.
Have a good day all.0 -

Aesop your post resonated with me, as I read and thank but don't feel able to post.
