MG - The Matrix Re-wired

Having a really lovely day today. Very restful. Mum was a star and took the dog out this morning, and then I got up and made some blueberry muffins and coffee. Hubby got breakfast in bed (because he was so tired last night... and he needs a bit of pampering as a thank you for being such a rock to us this week. I have just made a puff pastry tart for our lunch and that is cooking at the moment. After our lunch the doggy is going for a long walk with Daddy and I shall get on with my mending pile.
Later this afternoon, we might break out a DVD and watch a movie, and then tonight I am cooking chicken and mushroom risotto. We will probably have a drop of wine with that, and toast absent souls.

MG you have made me want to make/eat biscotti. Can't buy any nuts but I do have the last of the unshelled cob nuts. I wonder if they would work?
Can't see why not - just bash them up a bit and give it a go.
Childrens gala is over - DS1 helped us corral the littlies out of the car park and round the High St along to the park.
Gran and Grandad were then on toddler duty and I took over at cake stall. Fingers crossed but I think we made about £300 today - the wad of tenners in my pocket was huge. Loads of new books for the playgroup I think Yay!!!!
DS2 now sparked out on the sofa but he did really well considering he has been poorly.
Now I need to do something with the mince and I have a pot of jubilee jam that won't make itself LOL

Hope you're all enjoying the jubilee, and the traditional bank holiday weather.
Well done TMIF, and don't feel bad about making the cut, but do start thinking about options as soon as you have recovered enough.
APP - google is not always your friend, as I found out last year. Sometimes it can make you think the worst, so just keep remembering that they will look at all the symptoms and start eliminating things one by one. It takes time, but that's how it works,
Crickett - lots of love for you and your family. Just take things slowly. And well done for encouraging your mum to treat this as an opportunity.
We has 7 crabs dropped off on the doorstep yesterday, and then my dad caught five mackerel in the afternoon. So the crab were cooked, and the mackerel smoked, and we invited friends over to help us eat them today... Three generations of one family, so as well as the two of us there were 6 adults and 3 children. Despite being in a holiday cottage with no real shops, we managed to produce green salad (sold at the gate over the road); lentil, pepper, spring onion and tomato salad (AF tinned lentils); couscous with mint and lemon (AF with added chopped mint); hard boiled eggs; lemon wedges; mayonnaise; fresh bread; blueberry cupcakes with cream cheese topping (freezer). We still have some of most of it left over for tomorrow as well. It was a lovely meal outside despite the weather, and it was nice to be able to produce something that looked as if it had taken hours of planning and effort without having to go out shopping!
My dad is now doing something with his boats, I have cleared up and the DW is on, so I plan to relax with a book for a bit!0 -
Sounds like a fab time greenbee and well done MG!
Managed to get most things done today and baked lovely jubilee cakes. Have blown my budget on getting some photos of ds and dd together as they both looked fab today and the last time we got decent photos ds only had 2 teeth! Was worth every penny to see them both smiling in a photo and their love for each other showing in their eyes (aaaaw)
Off to create 3 jubilee fancy dress outfits - crown for dd, queen's timeline for me and apparently batman for ds who ahs failed to really grasp the jubilee fully:rotfl:

Have blown the budget a bit today - we went "up town" and walked along the Avenue of Sail and St Katherine's dock. Amazing sights, one's we'll probably never see again, and memories for a lifetime. DS found it all very interesting, especially bridges being raised in the dock, and walking on the pier edges that let you "see down" between the planks! And I got wildly excited to see tall ships moored on the Thames from my home port - lots of photos taken. Now home with a wind burned face, sore feet, but have had a brilliant day.
Back to earth with a bump, as have just been to Mr S for shopping, now need to put it away and make the adults some food.
MoamAlthough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Just been having a catch up on the thread. I'm still chuckling at Horace's pork pie in the handbag! I'm glad it's not just me that has random items in her bag
I hope Gemmzie's day has gone well. How exciting to be starting life tomorrow, married to some-one you love *sigh*I may be single but am grateful to have the love of my 2 beautiful boys.
MG I don't know where you have found your energy this week. You seem to have been busier than ever! I hope you have or have had good news from the supermarket.
We are hoping to have a little street party here tomorrow. I am so excited. I've made a slight faux pas and over cooked my cakes thoughI'm going to slice the top off, cover them with butter cream icing.....and hope for the best
There go my plans to create a good, domesticated impression. I could have done with an 'MG' in my kitchen today.
Have a great weekend everyone :AOne step at a time0 -
I think its cos the sun is out that I am whipping around LOL
Wonder how the Big Day went for our Gemmzie? Hope she is in the part of the country that has sun in it.
No news from supermarket yet - but Bank Holiday and all, as soon as I know you guys will know too.
Now today is a "mince" day - converting some packs of half price into freezer stuff combined with some more sewing now that I have got a white zip.

Hope Gemmzie had a great day yesterday... I have a feeling that she may have had a bit of wind and rain in the afternoon.
Still miserable here, so if my dad doesn't insist on some kind of boat-related activity I plan to lie on the sofa and read the paper, and when I finish that, read a book or two!0 -
After nightmare drive up the M6 yesterday I did make it in time to the airport. Lucky I had booked meet and greet car park (same price as the long term one) so it was all hassle free. So here I am at my brother's. He is taking me out later so that I can relearn how to drive. He has automatic gears in his car and yep peeps here drive on the other side of the road and go around the roundabouts the other way  EEEK!!!! I need to be able to take myself to the interview tomorrow morning so I better get my head around it.
Have a great jubilee celebrations everybody!!"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
