Happy Jubilee Weekend to all the Matrix! :D

It is a strange kind of day today... it is one week since my world tipped up on its axis. It feels weird. I guess this is the new normal. It could be worse. Mum had a bit of a sob this morning, as she said she was feeling guilty because she was looking forward to starting her new life. She feels she has had a second chance at life and is looking forward to it. Bless her. I told her not to feel guilty and to grab life by the lapels and live every second to the best of her ability. I think I might need to put that in a card for her to take back to the flat when she goes back eventually.

We are going to have a weekend in front of the TV watching the jubilee celebrations and the Derby. Mum is going to have a box of tissues by her side because she always gets choked up when she sees patriotic things like this! Plus she will be missing Dad.

So much emotion flying about still. I am too British; useless at emotion!

Morning Matrix - I know I have been MIA but I'm baaacckk...

Crickett - you really need to do what your body wants to do at the moment - sleeping in the middle of the day is fine, not sitting down to meals & just having lots of small snacks is OK, emptying & cleaning cupboards is OK - you have a lot going on & you just have to "go with the flow". It's your grief and what you feel is right - everyone else is wrong (words of a wise doctor to me after my Dad's death). Take care of yourslef - and my thoughts are with your family too......
TMIF - so pleased for you - that must be a weight off your mind
Gemmzie - have a wonderful day - congratulations - I hope you're as happy as DH & I are (well, OK - really happy)
APP - my thoughts are with you - only knowing a wee bit can we worse that knowing the full scenario. Take your Mum's lead on this
MG - great breeks - & I think my neighbours lad is starting the Big School with DS1 after the summer.

So plans for this weekend - no bunting for me (not my scene at all)
    TADA & housey day today
Sun - DH is off & we have a wedding to go to end of the month so I need to go shopping:eek:. Any suggestions as to what would suit a short legged, extremely round tomboy type person?
Mon & Tues - all to myself - I might ask MrF for advice about setting up a blog (if you're speaking to him MG, can you ask if it's easy enough) as I've had a few ideas....
But for now - (cos I know you're bored) it's time for more coffee & another shout at the dogs (Tora's in heat & is now as thin as a rake with all the "cuddling")
    Speak to you all later

    Have a good one

    Have a gentle day Crickett!

Welcome back Clootie - hope the shopping trip goes well (my idea of hell but you know that LOL) As for setting up blogs - Mr F is your man believe me - takes all the pain away. Ssshh!!! but his side hustle in progress is making a "point and click" version so that we can all have online shops, online training programmes, online blogs, online forums. Best of all - HE SPEAKS ENGLISH NOT TECHIE - other businesses take note please.

After all he got me online when you lot had been encouraging me for about a year and I had been studiously ignoring you all LOL. Now it is a side hustle that is paying me back in spades.

Been shopping for mince - and a pineapple - well I need to make Jubilee Jam and a pineapple is a "Royal Fruit" isn't it??? Well that's about as inspired as I am gong to get today after all the sewing yesterday.

Thanks MG - & you've just reminded me that I should be celebrationg this weekend - well Diego is a Dorgi, isn't he. If his relatives are celbrating at Buck House then he should be celebrating here too. Might have to give him a b i s c u i t later

Well done TMIF, that's brilliant news!! Sorry that you have had to go through this awful process though. Hope you're having a very happy long weekend!

I have been working really hard on a deadline for yesterday and unfortunately I didn't get finished. So will have to work part of this lovely weekend. The good news is we're going on holiday on Tuesday to Spain, yeeeeehah! We booked the Easyjet flights and wee flat inJanuary to have something to look forward to, and it was such a good idea. OH has had a bruising few months with work and we both need a change of scene. Really I am most excited about the tapas!!

Today is going to be quite exciting too as we have tickets to the festival in our local park. Hope there will be some Jubilee themed stuff there, I feel jealous about these lovely street parties and events some of you have :)

Hugs to you Crickett - I'm sure you're still feeling completely upside down. You're so right to be taking each day at a time. Thinking of you and your family.

    Thinking of Gemmzie too! :j

Thanks for ALL your lovely comments.

I feel sick with guilt - it's weird. I can't get my head around it.

    I just want to cry.

(Although I am obviously very relieved and grateful!)

Morning ladies from a damp and grizzly brum (which matches my mood today to a certain extent - back is still painful:() Anyway I have been and taken a sack of stuff to the charity shop with another bag being prepared which I may take down later. Other stuff is slowly being packed away the flat is becoming even more untidy as stuff is crated, boxed and bagged. B*gger 'em if they want to come and do show arounds they will have to put up with the flat the way it is and as for the bed I shall leave that unmade (oh, ok, I might just shake the duvet and straighten it out).

I had a lovely time on the sofa last night - eating chip shop chips (a rare treat), I watched the lovely programme by Prince Charles sharing his memories of his mum and showing various cine films that were taken by her and the Duke of Edinburgh. Despite being Queen she still had time for her children and did things that normal parents do. I followed that with an interesting programme about the people of Great Britain narrated and presented by Michael Wood (swoon) and was surprised to discover that the Black Country accent contains many words from the dark ages and that the Lickey Hills (close to me and even closer to my new home) were an ancient border for the region of Mercia.

I am doing packing little and often - it will be done when back and energy allow. The job for this afternoon is to clear off my camping table and pack stuff into bags and boxes before folding it up and packing it away. This can then go with the rest of my camping stuff.

Good luck for the interviews Marru - have a safe flight home.

Pleased for you TMIF. It is a very stressful time, and I know what you mean about feeling guilty about surviving the culls.

Love the shorts MG, making me think about what I could do for my boys.

    Good luck Marru

Things are very challenging here so I am battening down the hatches in anticipation. Veg plot is mostly planted, I just need it to stop raining long enough to get the rest in. I will be harvesting the first radishes later, and using the thinnings of what I think is spinach (always label the rows!). We are going to drown in tomatoes and runner beans hopefully. Seeds in the sprouting jar, and some cress, basil and coriander started off.

MG you have made me want to make/eat biscotti. Can't buy any nuts but I do have the last of the unshelled cob nuts. I wonder if they would work?
