Hugs to Claire and DS. Gastroenteritis very unpleasant. I hope he picks up soon.
Hugs to Gemmzie too. Sorry I am not a ebayer, so can only offer sympathy.
I've just had a couple of friends visit for afternoon tea. They loved the house, and we all agreed there was nothing else we'd rather be doing on a cold blustery May Sunday than having tea and cakes together and a good natter. If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Hugs to Claire and her DS. Having had gastroenteritis myself I know it is not very pleasant:(
Normally I see my parents on a Sunday but mum is most unwell with earache and generally feeling ill. She does not want me to catch whatever it is she has got because where she can have antibiotics I cannot due to being allergic to them:( I was disgustingly lazy today not getting up til 10am but then I didnt stop reading my book until 3.15am after going to bed at midnight:eek:
Nipped to corner shop for a paper and bar of chocolate earlier and noticed that a jeweller was doing valuations at a hotel local to my parents so off I went clutching some bits but his valuation was a lot less than I had been offered by someone else so no sale there. I then went to the farm shop that mum uses to have a look around their nursery - I saw some lovely plants and have made a mental note of them for such time when I have money to buy some. I ventured into the farm shop itself and bought some pears and spent £1.30 on half a dozen eggs. I know that is expensive but the eggs came from the farmer's son's own chickens so the box contained a mix of sizes 3 small white eggs and 3 large brown ones. The hens are free ranging and are happy - I could have bought a couple of hens for £10 each too if I had minded too:D
Dare I say it - the weather here is glorious although a bit breezy it is at least sunny and warm with only light cirrus clouds in the sky. I know it is blowing a hoolie up in Scotland as various bridges are closed to high sided vehicles according to the travel news on the radio.0 -
My goodness ladies - getting organised or what? Yay!!!
Was just throwing dinner in the oven:HM Smoked Haddock Fishcakes on a bed of fine green beans with a mustard cream sauce (A Food Soya Cream - fabulous!!!!)
when door goes and my mate the Doctor (the one from over the fence) pops in to see how I am (Ahem!!!) and ask if I will feed the cat next week as he is on a conference from Wed.
Turns out his Missus is at her Mums and he was on the way to buy a carry-out - so instead I invited him for dinner and tossed another fishcake in the oven.
He popped home for a bottle of vino (lovely man) and when he came back DS2 was setting the table, DS1 was filling water glasses and I was dishing up .................. he thought we were having a dinner party.:rotfl:
Then I produced four plates of very "cheffy" looking food - and had a chat about how little our food bills are at the moment ........... he was roaring with laughter as the conference is all about supporting families in poverty (and we are the poorest family he knows LOL), but here was I feeding the 72k PA Doc "posh food" at the drop of a hat.
He has suggested "stowing" me away in his luggage and producing me at the rebutal session ..................... can we wimmin stretch a pound till it squeaks???
YES WE CAN!!!!!:T

Well done MG
Not quite so impressive, but I did manage to produce a batch of blueberry, lemon and yogurt cakes for some friends who invited themselves to tea with only a few hours' notice. It did mean I got my act together with some of the tidying up too...
All washing has been done, most of the garden waste has gone to the tip. I have duvet covers for the spare bed (need to order mattress covers, sheets and duvets), grass has been cut, WM and cleaning cloths have had a hot wash, DW has been set off, unloaded and refilled with tea things.
I now need to pack... How cold/wet/windy will the Glasgow area be tomorrow? OH helpfully hasn't shared plans (probably because he hasn't made them yet...) so I don't know what to wear or pack...0 -
Had a brainstorm - this site looks for pictures to have their own URL to load them - and I found on the back end how to do it in Wordpress.
I can now post piccies - provided they are already on the blog that is - bit big mind I will see what I can do about that - YIPEEE!!!

Had mine in April - also had pensions statement ( occupational pension) - noticed that there seemed to be a whole 18 months missing where there was no record of me working so I got in touch with our pensions dept and had an email this week to say they had sorted out the problem along with the other missing info which I couldnt tell was missing from the statement I had:eek:Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
