His Big Goal is six years of learning something "non-curriculum" for 3-4 hours per week - an keeping a log / blog / diary.

You should see some of the things that are on his list LOL

    wow, sounds very interesting :)

we live in an area where we are not rural, very much town, but we have a very big mix of people from all over the world. These lovely children often have to learn English as a second language and in some of the local schools the priority is with these children. Which is why I want DS to go to one of the better schools. I sound horrible.

Aesop - you don't sound horrible, you want what's best for your boy as any decent parent would.

Crickett - you sound much happier since you left the job from hell.

Claire - hope your arm gets better soon.

I have a new digibox thanks to Virgin - I had booked a call out for between 10-12 this morning and the chap arrived at 9.44am. Now I need to work out how the thing works because the remote is a little more complicated and I think I now have more channels in the form of HD ones that I couldnt access with my old box.

I received a large pink piggy soap today too - this will make a handy present for someone. It is from the same people who make soap that I won the hamper from before Christmas as they have started selling UW but as I have had a bad experience with UW, they sent me a soap anyway.

Three more articles to go and I am done for pennythots.com . Bit of a marathon, but nice to get them done and dusted.

Just a few minutes before I run out to get DS1 - so I am going to pop on some Naan bread (cos Maria asked me for the recipe this morning and the thought of hot bread and cold raitha has been wheedling around my heart ever since)

So those of you on a diet should avoid the blog tonight LOL. Steamy garlic and coriander nan - nom nom nom nom!!!

OMG - my life is Soooo Rock n Roll

Could I ask some advice please?

What is the best way to appeal a decision on the school that has been chosen for you? that is, it is not the one you want!

Dont have these issues in our neck of the woods - well not at primary and rarely at secondary. Our biggest decision was which school will teach our children to read in their first language - turned out not to be the village school:( So daily hike to local town for that which never was a problem as OH works there until it came to friends - have to import them! DD2 fared better with the friends I think because her class was mostly populated by children from surrounding villages who where voting with their feet re village schools. HS choice easy and beacuse they wnent to the town they got HS of their choice but then I didnt give the county any option and only put down 1 ( out of 3 possibilities) on form;) Rural area so tend to get into school of your choice and again home language plays its part.

    Good luck Aesop!

Iggy - sounds like you have some kids like ours. The teachers report that when they get back"into" school is when they kick off cos they have had no solid routine and boundaries over the holiday.

I know it is not very trendy - but I think kids and pups need the same kind of training - good food, exercise, routine, lots of sleep, good boundaries and a clear understanding that the words "Stop" and "No" are orders to be immediately obeyed (not the invitation to a twenty minute debate ........... yup!! you can guess what I witnessed yesterday)

Oh - and most Teachers deserve Sainthoods (well there are still a few heading the other way I'm afraid)

However - off my soap box and to finish the packed lunch.

We 'puppy train' all our mad frogs who pass over the threshold MG - but I think we give it a trendy name - sorry cant for the life of me think what it is - parenting maybe:rotfl::rotfl:. Seriously when I get new staff or students I always tell them 3 things - you will hear and see things that you only thought was beefed up for scary documentaries;you do not need to like all the mad frogs you meet but you must respect them and finally forget all you have read/learnt and think about how you would deal with a new puppy! They look at me as if I have lost the plot but have got it ( or left cos they cant hack it!) by the end of the first 2 weeks :)

Mad frogs?? Because most days is like keeping a lid on a bucket of them:D

I love my job and sometimes I even get some teaching done ;)

Definitely :T at the puppy training - spent too long today explaining to a trainee teacher that my class are not her "mates", that she can't sit on their tables (my pet hate), use her mobile phone, and if "x, y or z speak to her like that again to (teacher-speak) b*ll*ck them! She was worried they won't like her to which the response was "and...?" Not here to be liked, if I wanted to be liked I'd be an ice cream seller.

This is why I ignore my own children in the holidays so that they don't get into a nasty habit of needing attention:p;):p;)
