Thanks Greenbee - the thing is that they will pay me to go to the interview and I really don't want to mess them around if I know that I am not going to accept the job anyway. Will see what happens.

I would do the list of yays and nays and then decide Marru - that way you can be happy that you have really settled your mind either way beforehand.

Today I have been hit, kicked, sworn at,scratched pinched and spat on.................just a normal first day in the classroom after a break:(

All in a days work, sadly. But all the mad frogs where delighted to be back - stability, normality, routine, expectations, fun and unconditional fun between the hours of 9am and 3pm for the next few weeks.......well thats what we aim for;)

Yoga class tonight was well earned!

Could I ask some advice please?

What is the best way to appeal a decision on the school that has been chosen for you? that is, it is not the one you want!

Ooh Aesop that's one I don't have any knowledge of - sure some of the teachers will be along soon - also there is a thread on "Families" that covers this and people there that can help out. Fingers crossed you find an expert.

Greenbee - think you were right - one of the newly registered ladies posted last night. It would seem that there are a few still working on their negative wealth so I think creating some kind of additional resource may be in order...... and pretty shortly.

Iggy - sounds like you have some kids like ours. The teachers report that when they get back"into" school is when they kick off cos they have had no solid routine and boundaries over the holiday.

I know it is not very trendy - but I think kids and pups need the same kind of training - good food, exercise, routine, lots of sleep, good boundaries and a clear understanding that the words "Stop" and "No" are orders to be immediately obeyed (not the invitation to a twenty minute debate ........... yup!! you can guess what I witnessed yesterday)

Oh - and most Teachers deserve Sainthoods (well there are still a few heading the other way I'm afraid)

However - off my soap box and to finish the packed lunch.

    Hi Aesop

I agree with MG, head over to the Families board as they have a thread about school appeals.

I have appealed a High school entry decision but as we were in catchment but our forms were lost (by the primary school) however the other 30+ who appealed with me - we had to go to a Tribunal - were out of catchment.

We were treated as an en-mass appeal in the morning and in the afternoon we would have individual interviews but luckily after the morning session the tribunal decided that the school had space for everyone :T

((hugs)) - try Ace? or is there a local parents support group that could help?

  • Morning Matrix!

Have decided to have a really creative day today. Stuff the housework. I am going to knit. :) I have a pattern, I have new wool, and I am going to have a fun day creating and making something. I will do the dishes at some point (I suppose!), but the main thing for me is the knitting.

Yesterday afternoon I came home from my time out in Snottingham and was greeted to a bamboo knitting needle, totally shredded on the floor of the living room, with a Dotty standing over it wagging her tail as if to say "Look, Mummy... look what I did"?! Well, I told her she was naughty, cleared it all up and learnt my lessons. 1) always keep my knitting bag zipped up and 2) always use metal knitting needles. I have ordered a new set of metal needles in the size I need from Amazon! :) I don't think Dotty ate any of the bamboo needle, she just shredded it!!

And this morning, I have been formally inducted to the doggy club on my local community! :) And Dotty had a rare old time playing with two black Labradors called Jay and Buster! And I had a lovely chat with the respective owners! :D

crickett, you sound so happy :) it is great.

And how lovely being introduced into the doggy community. Good luck with the knitting, I am not very good at knitting, although I do enjoy making a mess with it, very therapuetic.

DS has got into our second choice school which is interesting as we are definitely out of the catchment area, but it is going to be difficult for me to get him to school and back to work, and there is no after school club at this school. And I am not sure if I want him to go there. I have heard mixed reviews about it, I need DS to go somewhere where he will be inspired and grow, not dampened down or held back.

My poor friend didn't get any on her list, and is absolutely devastated. The one that has been picked for her has a not very good OFSTED report and she knows it does not have a very good reputation for teaching.

Thank you for the advice ladies, will head over to Families board.

The "only" choice High School for DS1 (rural area see) is, Meh! kind of OK ,nothing super duper .................... but he has just accepted a challenge from none other than "Seth Godin" to, well in essence to educate himself as a polymath outside school.

His Big Goal is six years of learning something "non-curriculum" for 3-4 hours per week - an keeping a log / blog / diary.

You should see some of the things that are on his list LOL
