Just seen the weather warning. Keep safe all you Scots. It's windy enough here today but nothing like what you've got coming. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0

Sounds like its a batten down the hatches and don't even think about going outside day tomorrow MG. I hope you have everything secured.
The wind has stopped howling down the chimney here, but it's pretty chilly. I've got the heating on, and a couple of blankets over me on the sofa while I'm working, and may light the fire in a bit, although what I really should do is finish up some work and then have a bath and an early night.0 -
Yay:j been to badger boss and have got a day working at home tomorrow on assessment profiles for the whole school - something that so can't be done in the noise and christmas glitter that is school atm. Am going to start by getting everything ready tonight so I can crack on in the morning.
DH met up with an old friend whose wife works for our local authority and my name has been positively mentioned in high places! And the new government has just got rid of requirement to have NPQH (headship qualification) which technically means I could go straight into headship from where I am now if I so chose - opens up lots more possibilities for the future (eek scary but good scary)Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

I fear I may need thoughts of serenity sending my way. We have builders coming to fix our kitchen and replaster and decorate our living/dining room. The house is going to be upside down for some time, starting on Monday. Apparently the work will take "a good week and a half to two weeks". Oh God I've just realised that's right up to Christmas!
Anyway, we're going to stay with MIL for a few days (maybe longer, depending on how safe/habitable the house is). I love my MIL, but I'm not sure how living with her will be. I like my own home and habits and don't like the idea of staying at anyone's house (except my own parents). DS will be thrilled to spend extra time with his Nan; I'm sure she'll be delighted too. I'm scared she'll get on my nervesSPC - Number 14250 -

I really don't fancy carrying them through the garden in these winds. I could end up in Finland somewhere:rotfl:
Seriously - can't remember the last time I saw a red alert for Edinburgh - even last years snow didn't make that.
So I guess tomorrow is not a drying day then:D

:rotfl: You better put your mobile in your pocket then and give me a call in the unfortunate event.
Grrrr, got a letter from DCA about a loan that I have paid off as FF, grrrrr. Like I need that just before my exams, xmas and travelling away for work, grrrr...."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

klfairy - I've been living in amongst ongoing building works this year (first the bathroom, then the utility room and lots of ceilings), and I think staying with your MIL is very sensible. Just go for lots of walks and keep busy! Take the opportunity to get stuff done you wouldn't manage if you were at home.
I've just done a load of shredding (having discovered that most of the stuff I thought needed shredding could actually be recycled!) and stuffed a whole lot of the loo roll inners that were in the firelighting basket with shredded paper. I lit the fire with shreddings too, and will do that for the next few days to clear the backlog (there are a few things still to do) and then try to get into the habit of shredding as I file and either burning it or composting it...
Not doing so well on the work front though
Still not feeling 100%, and although my GP has suggested signing me off for another week, I can't afford to use up too much of my sick leave as I know I'll be back in hospital again. Luckily my work is flexible enough that I should be able to get away with taking it easy now and then make up for it when I feel better.0 -
Good morning from sunny SA
I was at a workshop yesterday:D and all that unaccustomed thinking exhausted me :rotfl: Popeye wanted takeaway last night but I managed to make some curry from what we had here and then bent his ear about saving R300 by not going out :rotfl: It always sounds a better saving in Rand
Wish I'd thought of making my own mincemeat, the stuff here is ghastly sweet and glutinous. Maybe I can add other ingredients........hmmm
Lovely news Cricket and the very best off luck for a healthy result. :T
I'm with MG though......have fun!
