Another :) here for Firewalkers advice - some of which I will be taking in my head along to see the bank advisor today, wish I had been on mse 5 years ago but am learning from the error of my ways.

Today is mse walking to bank, free manicure, clearing garden to await arrival of new-to-us slide from a friend (with gloves on to protect nails), then easter crafts to keep kids happy. So today should cost nothing :T
    Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
    Emergency fund £1000/£1000
    Savings for big things £9017

Good luck with the bank. I suppose, the guy you are meeting will need a proper session of enchantment involving a very clear plan for progress. If I were you though, I am going to have also a very detailed plan of how to cope when the interest rates rise - which will be probably in couple of years time (I think people are naive if they think that the recession is over) but 'it is there'. This means lower liabilities and higher income, most likely!

Thanks Firewalker - the outcome is that we are going forward for a fee-free mortgage process in order to find out exactly where we stand in terms of negative equity then we can re-gather our troops from there. We are not going to go changing the current mortgage situation at the moment as we would be putting all our eggs in our basket so to speak and want a little bit of squeeze room for possible disasters.

Wholeheartedly agree with you on the recession FW which is why I'm trying to get something reasonable fixed as soon as we can but the equity is getting in the way atm. Although the bank man is surprised how much it has dropped and doubted the figure we've been quoted from our current lender.

Walked there and back so saved petrol - but did buy dh a pressie a 39p bottle of brown sauce - I seriously know how to treat my man:rotfl:

Dorastar, moving in the right direction. As to the rrecession, it is possible not only to survive but to thrive - one needs to know, act and be flexible.

Another one trying to plan head here, we were floored by 2008/09 period (hubbys remuneration package basis mainly) and are still clawing our way out, but are throwing everything at that just now to gain more wriggle room for when we will need it as our monster mortgage goes up.

But with the help of what I'm learning from FW & MG, and all the other resources I keep being signposted to, I'm sure we're moving from surviving to thriving, baby steps all the way.

Hope everyone is having a good Easter despite the weather. Mustn't grumble about the weather really as the earth really needs the rain.

Must learn to control my money a bit better - I am in my overdraft again waiting for my JSA to be paid and waiting for a housing benefit cheque to come through. I really must get a job - I keep trying and something has to come good in the end. The chap that I did some freelance work has set up another company and there may be some working going there but I am not holding out much hope to be honest although he has mentioned it. If I do work for him it will be on salary as I don't want to be submitting invoices monthly and waiting for such time as he pulls the plug like he did last year.

Am off to look at a house this afternoon - one that has just come onto the market - it hasnt got proper particulars nor has it a for sale board outside. Must get petrol too - I withdrew £20 especially as I am running on fumes at the mo:(

Off to parents for dinner tomorrow as well - also a chance to look at more solicitors papers. It seems that the double glazed windows were installed in 2007 - one wonders why lintels weren't put in then?

We are home and the first of three loads of washing is in the machine.

Crappy crappy crappy internet access on the island 1mbps which meant that I could hardly load pages much less post - but I was a good Mum and wrote all the bloggie stuff anyway - so after dinner I will upload the words and more importantly the pictures........... loads of lovely pictures of the Island.

We got to Ardrossan in plenty of time - despite the snow on Tuesday, only to find that ours and the next ferry had been cancelled. We were within a whisker of 2 Grandparents, dog and 2 kids bunking down for the night at the terminal. Fortunately the last ferry of the day ran - and we got on because we were booked on an earlier one. So we got there late - but we did get there.

Cottage was a bit of a 1980's timewarp :p But was mostly clean so that was fine - although last night I most definitely heard a rat in the attic (still its not my problem)

Off to buy a copy of the "Kitcat" magazine and make a pizza for he boys (special request). Then I shall catch up by posting up loads of photos and catching up with the gossip.

I've listed three items on Ebay and have another 30 to add on Monday if they don't sell on a local site first :) I will remove the clutter!

Welcome back MG and boys - glad you had a good, if snowy, get away.

Nails all nicely done for free and then used up a decluttered toys r us card to get some pressies in for birthdays coming up in next few months.

Dh has volunteered to sort tea, spag bol and garlic dough balls, while I lounge around for a change:T

    Welcome back MG and boys!

Managed to get back onto the computer at home which I was not expecting this weekend. Hubby and I decided not to go to the Easter Vigil, because basically we are churched out already!! :) Church tomorrow morning then. We are going to leave Dotty and the kittens (sounds like a band name!) to mingle in the house while we are out. This should be interesting!

We have been on a nice long walk today, and Dotty LOVED it! I loved it slightly less because my plantar fascitis is seriously acting up. Very ouchy heels and feet. However, the only way to get better is to keep doing the walking.

Oh, and I have been napping... 2 hour naps every afternoon usually. It appears that I have been chronically sleep deprived for some time. Who knew! :D

I have been busy in the kitchen this afternoon - made chocolate mousse for pudding tomorrow, and made some pastries for breakfast tomorrow.

Right dinner almost ready! Its Tacos! Nom nom nom!

Happy Easter to all of you.
