Greenbee, sending vibes and wishes for good health. However, it may be more important to take some zinc - it boosts immune systems and arrests viruses.

Greenbee - try taking a zinc tablet every day along with a 1000mg tablet of Vitamin C (take 3000mg Vit C when ill). I have been following this regime since last summer and touch wood I haven't had a lurgy this year at all. My mum has been following the same regime for 20+ years and hasn't had a cold in all that time. If she feels as though she is coming down with something she takes additional Vit C for a few days and then reverts back to her normal dosage.

Mum & Dad are having a drive by the prospective new house today and we are viewing on Tuesday. I know the road reasonably well because I was going to buy a house down there back in 1998 but at the time didnt have the strength to get a divorce after being seriously ill. The house we are viewing is asking for offers in the region of £114950 but the house has been on the market for a while so they will offer less. I am not too bothered by carpets because I am hoping that the parquet floors are still in existence (these ex council houses were built well in the 1950's - all with parquet floors). As for the vendors of the other house they can play all the games they want because ultimately they will be the losers.

Had a lie in this morning - I am supposed to be typing up minutes and applying for a job but cannot get motivated. I have, however, boxed up the last portion of lamb stew and put it in the freezer. I am rather proud of this stew because I made the stock myself - firstly it was the remaining juice from a lamb shank and then I froze it and re-used it when I had the remaining shank. I had a pint of jelly like stock in the end with all fat skimmed off and I used this when I cooked up the lamb steaks mum gave me - I just added carrot, onion and pearl barley (I trimmed the fat from the steaks too). I quite like this cooking lark.:D

Hugs to those that need them...I am off to mooch.

    Hi everyone.

The company I work for is privately owned. The director manually pays our wages, ie, he physically transfers the money one by one from their bank account into our bank account.

For the last 3 months, he has not paid us on time. Each time, I have had to phone the office and say my money is not in my account. The first time i was at the hairdressers and my card declined, I had to go to the cashpoint over the road, where she could see me, to withdraw the money from DS' child benefit.

the second month, I called after I had checked my bank account.

Yesterday I had to call again, after checking and noticing my dds had bounced

Do not know why he doesn't make it pay in automatically at midnight, but some of us salaried and some paid hourly. No idea if that makes a difference.

All I know is that this is a tinpot company that could be so much more and so much better, but they are just not prepared to spend the time investing in it.

I got paid yesterday, but about 12pm! And if my bank refuse to remove my charges, i will take them into work and make them pay them.

It shouldnt make any difference as to whether some are salaried and some are hourly paid - all payments should be made via BACS automatically. I spent 7 years working in cleaning services at UoB (Bham Uni) and we had a mix of salaried staff and hourly paid staff - I used to have to sort all their clock cards out which were then sent to payroll. No problems with pay - all paid into their banks at the end of the month.

Aesop - start looking for another job, if they are late paying each month and have been erratic for the last three months then they are in financial difficulty and it looks to me as though they are only paying when they physically have the money to do so.

Defintely look for a new job! I agree, financial difficulties. You have to look after yourself these days
  • Nice house Horace, but be careful with sharing private location type details - esp if you end up moving in - it's not private on here x

Have won the housework battle but lost the rugby match we went to watch. Jacket spuds in for tea and two kids warming up slowly.

Off to see financial bloke at bank tomorrow to see if they will be any help with sorting a fixed rate mortgage out once ours ends in Oct but not holding out much hope cos of negative equity - have worked out a plan in the meantime which would see us start paying it off but if we get dumped on current lenders svr we won't be able to make many overpayments and will be at mercy of rate rises (which I want to avoid) Positive vibes for at least some good ideas from the ideas man.
    Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
    Emergency fund £1000/£1000
    Savings for big things £9017

Hey, Buffy; are you OK? Hope things are going well with you.

Thanks for your kind words; I have been learning, thinking and researching a lot about financial health - in fact, a lot of what I put in the post you mention is already in some form or another on my blog. But I find that I am more and more interested in looking at someone's problem and trying to find options applicable to them (different scenarios more like).

I really feel for the poster in question; but frankly I think that he is not ready to take any of the steps mentioned. Getting there but not ready yet.
