  • What've they done to you Ima?

I think I shared my tale of Satander woe in here before... so I won't bore you again. Escape, escape while you still have your own hair and teeth. They nearly forced me to pull all of mine out.

I escaped to First Direct about 2 years ago, and banking has been hassle free since.

I have just spent a magical hour engrossed in some perfectly wonderful writing on one of my favourite blogs - about a place I used to live in.

    www.spitalfieldslife.com

can you get homesick for a place even after all these years?

    MG

Is this blog why one of your high impact search terms looks like it is in hebrew?

Igamogam, I had bother with them. I opened a savings account online, sent them the cheque for the amount I wanted to save, they sent me a code to use for telephone banking and a letter saying I would need to contact them via telephone banking to get an online password.

The telephone banking code did not work on their automated system and I couldn't find another number to contact them on in order to speak to someone. I couldn't access online banking because I couldn't get onto telephone banking to sort out the password. The only option I could see to gain access to my money was to write to them via snailmail and close the account!

A week later a cheque and letter arrived saying they were sorry to see me go.

It was enough of a palaver for me to vow I would never use them again.

Horace, your confidence has increased tremendously over the last few months and it's great that you are focussed on applying for jobs in a certain salary bracket which is not unrealistic. You have worked out what you need, what you are capable of earning, what is available in the marketplace and most of all you are valuing yourself and your skills. An employer is far more likely to take you seriously and make you a job offer when you are applying for something you are keen to do as that will show through both in your application and at interview stage.

Employers do not want to waste time and money employing and training people who are not going to stay in the position if a better offer comes along. You are right to take a targetted approach as long as you continue to be proactive in your search as you have been all along and applying for everything which meets your criteria.

Yes, it is a buyer's market out there and you are now one of the strong ones.

Could I ask for some positive thoughts and vibes for my OH tomorrow? He has a job interview starting at 1.30pm. He's very nervous as didn't get anywhere with last 3 interviews he had [though interestingly one asked him to supervise the person who did get the job and another hired him to do some freelance training]. Also instead of asking him to do a presentation and bring it with him, they will give him a topic when he arrives and he has half an hour to write a presentation to give in the main interview. He is  about this as my OH doesn't do spontaneous hence the plea for some positivity in his direction. He knows his stuff just takes him a while to get it from brain to mouth! Thanks Teapot x

Bit of a weird day as boss decided we have lots to do in the next two weeks - and most of it seems to be things I have to do so am a bit narked with life/him. Already got a billion and one things on my to do list and not sure I can actually squeeze any more into the next fortnight :(

Got to sit and plan the next two weeks carefully so I don't crash and burn, still manage to look after me and see my family as well.

Igamogam - I am so going to be billing you for the tea I just sprayed all over my laptop :rotfl::rotfl:

So have the Red Ones been usually inept, spectacularly inept or stupendously inept?

    MG

Yup in every conceivable way inept :mad::mad: Got a default on my credit rating due to their utter and total ineptness. Going to take a whole lot of grrrrnesss to get it removed.

That is the whole problem I am not even with them. Told them to not proceed with the opening of a current account when they cocked up the whole thing and told me I would no longer qualify for the offer they had at the time so I told them to stop the whole procedure - which they just ignored and the account which I never used i.e. didn't pay anything into nor take anything out, accrued charges which I disputed and they sent a letter to say they had passed it onto a debt collection agency who wrote to me and I paid up as I was fed up with it all - now they placed a default on my credit rating - hell I'm steaming

    Sorry not enough full stops:D
