:j:j:j to DS1 signing his contract0 -
Thanks for the positive thoughts for OH's interview at 1.30pm He's left already as the interview is on the other side of the country! Poor soul he looked like a cross between a man condemned and a rabbit in the headlights this morning. Never known him so quiet. I suggested he visualise answering all the questions with confidence and accepting his job offer - I just got a grunt. He really wants this job so fingers and toes crossed.
Well done to your DS Firewalker, signing the contract must make it all seem more real. Igamogam hope the Ombudsman is able to help if you can't get anywhere with the red devils.
jc2703 - can you ask on your local freecycle if you don't have a microwave? Not ideal but a couple of them short term should see you through in a limited way. Someone on there might even have a cooker going spare to tide you over - lots seem to be on offer round here.0 -

Thinking of your OH teapot.
Back from hospital - I have a vocal cord granuloma, so a bit of sorting out to do with work. Anyone know a good speech therapist/voice coach as I need to cultivate a low, quiet, calm voice (this is SO not me) that I can sustain for an hour or so at a time by next week...
No phones for work, no coughing, no clearing my throat, drink lots, buy cough sweets in bulk, avoid talking if possible... go back in 6 weeks. But I am allowed to present with a microphone - I'll need one even for small groups, so at least I can keep doing some work!
One thing done. Hopefully my floors will be finished todayThen I can start cleaning.

Aw greenbee, pants! But at last you now have a diagnosis. I thank my lucky stars every time I present that we had "shouting" classes at college. Well they were really voice classes - but as Stage Manager need to shout rather than sing they did tend to be more about supporting the voice so you didn't strain yourself.
You do really need to find a coach BTW - cos he longer term prognosis of this can be pretty crappy with nodules and thickening. Would work be willing to pay? After all you could argue "industrial injury" as your job involves presenting.
Off to pack a bag for the boys as they are off to Grans to sleep over tonight.

BTW... I've just realised, if I hadn't been persuaded to go to Uni our paths would probably have crossed much earlier... I remember looking at prospectuses for stage management courses... something I'd forgotten until nowI have a box somewhere full of all my stuff from the school productions I worked on - how I found time for work is a mystery!

FW, something great to celebrate, that is excellent news about DS1's start.
Ouch Greenbee. Hugs ((( ))). But good to know what exactly you're dealing with. I wish you well with changing your speaking habits - it will take practice and perseverance, of which you have both, and many more positive attibutes to see you through.
Had an early appointment this morning with my young and green solicitor, and the fees for buying my new home are now back to what was quoted last year, so 14% MSE savings to me. As I said to him, it couldn't be a more straightforward piece of conveyancing: no stamp duty to process as it's below the threshold, there's no mortgage to be processed, and it's a new build so he'll have a very short title search.
On with more clearing out for me. The dehumidifier is still drying out the eaves after the leak yesterday, but the downstairs bedroom has already dried out and I'll move down there this weekend so I can systematically empty the house down to the lower level.
But first, another cuppa! If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

These "Professional Trades" certainly know how to charge don't they!!!
Cost me £330 for 5 stitches in my cat's ear last Monday. Grr! Anyway, he's better, so that's all that matters I guess.0 -

Well, it did cost me over £1,000 to have my leg operated (in Bulgaria) last summer. Too much? I asked myself whether I would have don it myself (or let one of you make do and mend maveriks) and the answer was 'no'.:rotfl:
Would you have stitched your cat's ear?

FW it doesn't sound as if it cost you an arm and a leg - saved it more like :rotfl::rotfl:If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.
