I was round at the kirk at Moonzie laying flowers earlier - unfortunately I remember it as if it were truly yesterday.

Yes, a sad day, one for parents to hug their children close, and for us all to remember the little ones of Dunblane Primary School who never got to grow up - and Gwen Mayor, their class teacher who died trying to protect the children. Such sorrow, visited upon a small community.
It's so sad that as a result, schools became like Fort Knox, after many years of open access for all. I guess in the era of acrimonious custody battles, schools really needed to tighten up their security anyway, and it only took one deadly event to show what can happen when a nutter has an unreasonable grudge. Locking down schools is a small price to pay to keep children safe and secure. If only it wasn't needed.....If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

16 years - were did that time go? I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news. DD1 was a similar age as to some of those killed and I remember seeing her as clear as day coming home skipping down the garden path after school and even though we where 100's of miles away, just bundling her up and thanking some deity that we had her home safe and sound.
I agree Groatie that it is such a shame that fort knox type schools are now a necessity and every strange face is treated with suspicion.

Bring the shovel!!!
So here is the story:
I booked half day off from work. At 1 pm panel sent us away to come back at 3 pm. So I called to work and said I shan't turn up. I have done so much overtime that I am not going to change that holiday request to a full day.
Considering that just over the year ago there were no contact the cafcass and the court is now saying that we need to go to over night contact and for up to one week contact at the time during holidays.
So I did agree on the holidays but I didn't agree weekends during term times to be for two nights. I lost that one as he can now have DD for every other weekend from after school on Fri to 4 pm on Sunday
I didn't want the overnight contact to start this weekend and I got what I wanted, it will start in mid April.
I wanted her to be returned to the contact centre on Sat 4 pm after the first two overnight stays, I didn't get what I wanted, she will be returned to the house at 4 pm on Sunday.
I wanted him to take parenting courses prior to the overnight contact. Or at least start a course. I got that.
I wanted my money to be reimbursed by him due to unnecessary hearing last time. He was deemed to be naive hence no compensation to me. (If I am naive and suffocate someone with pillow, do you think that the criminal court would let me off?? )
So anyway it was couple of small wins but lots of great losses.
HOWEVER!!! I have a plan B that you all know about. So this was the final hearing when it comes to the contact agreement BUT I can go back to ask permit to move back home which according to my solicitor shouldn't be difficult to get.
Today he and his new parter celebrated by laughing and kissing (timed perfectly when I came out of the court room) but there will be a day when the party will be on me. Now how many CV's can one send out in one evening...
Ooops, I am on the wine, better just make a list for tomorrow morning CV session... (And I have double decker stashed away for after DD is in bed...)"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

hi Marru, have been thinking of you today and hoping for good things. It sounds very mixed and I hope you are doing OK.
MG I am so sorry to hear about DS1's continued issue with the bully boy. It's an issue very close to my heart, and I hope it gets resolved for him, you and the other children and parents involved.
Great news on the Leadership thing for him.
16 years since Dunblane, wowee that is a long time. I remember hearing about it but it never became real for me until I learnt a few years ago that my ex hubby grew up and went to primary school not far from there. I have never forgotten it though.
Hope everyone else is well and dealing with whatever life throws at them, and is throwing back a healthy amount of smiles/f-words (delete as required!) x0 -
Sorry it didn't go the way you wanted Marru, but as MG says, you have plan B and you are working to make it work.
As you can't hide in my suitcase, is there anything you want me to bring you back from Helsinki if I get a chance to see anything other than the hotel and airport?
Am getting more and more frustrated by people who don't understand why I'm worried about the effect not being able to talk is having on work0
