    Good afternoon

I am trying to chomp a big frog today, de-cluttering and cleaning the master bedroom,I keep putting it off and its go to the state now where I'm falling over things to get into bed ( for some reason the bedroom seems to be the dumping ground when other rooms are being sorted :(. So I have started :) the ottoman has been cleared off, all the clothes are on the bed in the respective piles, ready to be given to who they belong too, I'm just waiting for help putting all the drawers back in the chest of drawers before I can do More, so having 5 mins before I have to put veg on for dinner.

Roast chicken dinner today and chicken noodle soup and curry or stirfry with the leftovers :)

WM on load on the line, so just waiting for the machine to finish to put more out :)

Downstairs been tidied just floors to be brushed in living room and dining room.

    Uuurggg!!!!

NHS 24 want us to take DS2 to the hospital as she "didn't like the sound of the cough" - Yup!!! she could hear it when she was on the phone.

Poor wee soul - although he says he doesn't "feel poorly" and has been eating well and drinking too - so it's no as if he is at deaths door.

Off to the docs we go I suppose.

    MG
Why in earth aren't they putting you in touch with your own GP's out of hours service? They can probably do more, quicker than A&E and if you meed hospital can refer you so you don't have to hang about.

Hope it all turns out OK.
  • Up here in Scotland the out of hours GP services are accessed by calling the NHS 24 helpline, and if further help is needed people go to their local out of hours clinics and small injuries clinics both of which tend to be based in local NHS hospitals. There is also a mobile doctor unit in this area, which I guess gets called to the homes of more serious cases.

I hope DS2 gets sorted out MG.

I'm off to the charity shop and will murder a cuppa whilst I'm out.

Hope your little one is ok, MG. I know what those hospital trips can be like.

Clairewop - my bedroom is my biggest nightmare too! For some reason I have 2 baskets full of ironing. However, I suspect at the bottom are things I wanted to sell but couldn't be bothered to iron at the time. So, guess where my focus will be later.....

Aesop - good luck with your application. You do sound motivated. I quite agree that the people on this thread are very motivational - you included. 2012 for me will be challenging due to the issues caused by the ex, but I really feel I can lay the foundations this year, to ensure that next year I won't feel so vulnerable financially. This thread is really helping me with that.

Greenbee - you sound a lot brighter! I'm glad you finally made sense to your HR :D

    Hi there,

Just popping in for a minute - I just never seem to have time these days

MG - hope DS2 is all right - Hopefully it's the new hospital you've been sent to. And I know a lot of people knock the NHS but I have to say I have never had any complaints & DH has always been well treated when he's been in.
GQ - did mean to say that I'm so happy about your house sale...

Anyhow, in the great spirit of The Matrix - March has been declared my "Round Tuit" month (you know the I'll get around to it jobs....)
    Well today -
    Washing is all done
Ironing is all done (or will be by the end of the day) - this makes my week much easier
Utility room has been emptied & only 75% of the stuff returned to it)
Living room carpet has been washed (thanks DH)
Front porch was stripped of pine cladding yesterday (& is in kennel to be recycled as kindling :o) & friend has been up today plasterboarding it for us. Sorry MG I could have done it myself, but believe me, this was £20 well spent as it's a much better & quicker job than I could have done.

    So - fairly productive day

And the round tuits will continue all month. No rhyme or reason to them - they all need to be be done so I will potter as I feel like it...........

Anyhow, must pop off now but will catch up again later

if the out of hours service is at the hospital that makes sense... And quicker if they do need to refer you I guess. I'm just surprised they didn't get someone from the out of hours service to call and check before MG had to trek all the easy there. I mostly deal with my GP over the phone, so it's what I'm used to :D I agree with clootie that generally when you need it the NHS is fantastic. They looked after me really well last year, and have been very good with this latest bug.

Lots of motivation on here at the moment. I've worn myself out with yesterday's afternoon out and today's activity - two more pillows, on mattress topper and a load of whites washed, dyson emptied and rubbish/recycling out when it stopped snowing, and coal and logs brought in. As the weather has been from the south, the logs have got damp so are drying out in the utility room.

I have a crate full of shoes that I have cleared out of the bottom of my wardrobe that I really need to sort through properly sometime before they go back in there.

Like clootie, I think I need a 'round tuit' month, so it's time to make a list. I also need to get out of my recent habit of wearing tracksuit bottoms and fleeces during the day. I will pack them out of the way and start wearing proper clothes from tomorrow!

    Already organised for this month:

Bath panel to be fixed on properly (before Thursday)
Rest of upstairs floors to be replaced (starting on Thursday)
Main bedroom to be decorated (w/c 19th)
    Back bedroom to be decorated
Tree surgery (booked for week before Easter... Not this month, but at least it is done!)

    To be organised:

    Rest of decorating
    Sitting room carpet/flooring
2011/2012 ISA contributions (both kinds) now I have my bonus
    Fix back door
    Seal utility waste pipe
    Utility work surface
    Utility tiling
Tidy garden ready for spring planning

Clootie - I have lots of floorboards to turn into kindling, although I think some will burn instead of logs as there are masses of them!

    Hiya Ladies

Had DS2 round to the hospital (the girlies are right, up here that's where the OO GPs are stashed at weekends). We actually saw our own GP, which was lovely having been triaged by a Nurse on the phone earlier (who heard DS2 barking cough and decided it needed listening to).

Fortunately you are not funnelled through the A & E Dept - but off to the side so there is no waiting time as you are already booked in.

However, long story short. DS2 does have a cracking cough, glands are up, throat is a bit raw - but, the important thing there is no crackling lungs (so no infection / asthma / bronchitis) Prescription is Hot steamy baths, Vick from chest to waist and back too, olbas oil burner and "cosy juice" to ease his throat................... so I am off to run a bath LOL

    Back later

Clootie, good to see you! Glad you're making progress and that's great value to get the plasterboarding done for that amount.

Progress here too - the eaves on both sides of the house are now empty :j:j

7 black bags to the PDSA, had a nice cuppa and caught my breath, then I came back and tackled what's left in the garage. I can see what needs to get shifted over the next few weeks. Some will go tomorrow.

Shredder will be in action tonight, for as long as I can stand it (not my most favourite task)

    Getting there!

ETA - good news MG that DS2 chest is clear, hope he gets better soon.
