WEll turkey yielded 13 x 100g portions (bagged and frozen) and 24 discs of frozen turkey stock (I use 2 for a bowlful of noodle soup n stuff), so 25 meals at least for £4.99 - so about 20p worth per meal.

Making a mincemeat slice ATM with a half jar of mincemeat, some pastry from the freezer and a granny smith apple - smells lovely!! Just hope it finishes coking before I leave to get DS1 from school (kind of winging it on the recipe here LOL.

Sounds like we all have got "nesting in reverse" with all out moving, shifting around, prep for sale and decorating jobs. Now the days are a bit brighter its much easier to start things isn't it?

horace I used an internet company for mine, £100 well spent i think, never did have much tolerence for officialdom or form filling. Re the survey - read it with an open mind, they are always depressing documents.

-How would you deal with a parent coming in making a complaint? In line with school policy, calm down situation, know who to speak to on staff, pass message on if it can wait, see if member of staff is available etc

-How do you see your role within school? First Point of contact for everyone (even Ofsted), first impressions important, friendly but efficient, honest and trustworthy, firm but fair.

    - How do you feel about managing all the different demands of the role e.g email, invoices, phone calls, photocopying, letters, delivering late lunch boxes, chasing parents/staff for unpaid lunch money? Calm, organised, polite, manage the day to day efficiently and keep a sense of perspective and humour. Reaise that there are particular 'hot spots' in school year and prepare well in advance if possible - e.g. new intake meeting lots of paperwork to give out to new parents so want to be well prepared in advance.

    - What skills do you think you bring to the role? What experience have you had of any similar roles if appicable? As above and IT skills and working as part of a team, and being able to supply tea and biscuits at a moments notice:) Ability to deal with a crisis - if a child falls and breaks leg the staff will deal with the child but you might deal with phoning 999 and the parents!

Ditto the comment about confidentiality and need to speak to someone if you were concerned about a child's welfare either from home or staff.

Flippin rotten cold will not let me go - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr apart from that all fine.

Advice from GP was 'if you're not well enough to eat, you're not well enough to work'. Which actually seems a fairly sensible approach. So am stocked up on aspirin and paracetamol and spending a couple of days in bed. Apparently it's a virus that takes about 10 days to go (so I should be nearly done) so I just have to wait it out.

Sounds like some of you have had very productive days :)

    thankyou Dorastar and Igamogam, :A:A

I will email my friend now.

I have had flu since last week, which is gradually getting worse, nose won't stop running and have a very nasty chesty cough. Hope it is the 10 day virus, and only have a few more days of it to go.
  • Congratulations Kittikins - very exciting to have the house you really really want!
In line with the MSE ways we have, today I have fixed the loose bathtap (broken bit, replaced, cost £2.50), figured out the replacement part needed for my shower, ordered and have figured out how to put it on, cost £5, got a new light fitting in place (cost freebie from my brother) and have painted woodwork in the bathroom to freshen it up(cost free as we had some paint). Next task is to work out how to put a mirror on the wall - I am always unsure of which drill to use and I don't want to have to replaster so will do some reading up before I start. In the meantime I am going to paint the wee bits of wall (mostly tiled), re seal the bathtub then that is the bathroom looking good.
Feels like I have achieved something today!

I had something very similar just after Christmas and was proper poorly with it. Have only really felt like I have got rid of it in this last week whilst I have been off work doing nothing - energy levels still not great.

Have hand delivered my application form - asked for a receipt - not taking any chances this time ;) Woman looked at me daft when I asked! I ahve tried ringing the contact person on the ad for the 'informal chat' but he is never in and doesnt appear to have anybody or thing taking messages

If it's going in to breeze block then you need to use a masonry bit on hammer drill setting' if it's into plaster board use slow setting and a small drill bit. Also if you put masking tape up where you want to drill and then drill through the tape it can help stop the plaster from flaking off.hth
