  • Cabbage - 40p and a handful of baby beets for 60p. I've got some raspberry vinegar so I am thinking roasted beetroot in a sweet raspberry vinegar. A lovely treat come the summer with sourdough and a slice of cheese.

Cabbage is destined to be made into pickle too - do you know that by naturally pickling cabbage you retain most of the Vitamin C and it has more probiotic bacteria than those expensive yoghurty things? my 40p cabbage will make loads and loads.

Greenbee - I was given 8 pints of milk left over from the playgroup - so I am making HM ricotta with finely shredded kale (or spinach when in season). Use as a filling for pancakes and cover with a tomato and wine sauce and bake until singing hot - Italian crespolini for pancake day - with extras in the freezer for later. Yum!!!!

Cuppa and then shredding cabbage methinks.

The biscotti recipe was a hit last night with friends - thanks MG ! Bit of a variation on the original recipe I made both the cranberry and bitter choc and just about managed to bring a few home to enjoy with a frothy coffee later when OH get back from electrical wholesalers ( just how many grommets and meters or trunking does a man need ?)

OH is the coffee conesewer in this household so I just leave him to it and enjoy the results of what I consider faffing and after all I do have a letter application to write...............hmm now must go and sort laundry/put on DW/vacuum/clean bathroom/find bedroom floor/dust/list on Eb*y/polish the cats claws :rotfl:Do you think I am emlpoying too many diversion tactics??

    Hello peeps.

A load of washing in the machine - I found a load of bed linen under the bed last night (all still packaged and unused) I won't be needing any double bed sheets or duvet covers for a while.

I am making a list of what to keep and what to ditch - I have accumulated so much rubbish over the years.:( I may need to go the dentist as a tooth is twinging - I have a feeling that it needs pulling (it is a very old molar that was damaged by the butcher that I used to see - I think it is more filling than tooth:(). I haven't been to the dentist for 12 months as I cannot afford to go:(

Nipping out in a while for milk (needed for coffee and to eat the cereal that I am product testing) I also need a bottle of meths to clean my car windscreen inside and out (it is way too greasy inside) - meths is cheaper at the local hardware shop than it is in the car spares place opposite.

Sausage casserole for tea tonight or I might make sausage mash & beans.

Excellent house news Horace and well done MG on the ames taping (had to look at the blog as had no idea what it was)

Back from our citybreak jollies - had a fab time especially icklies in swimming pool with dh. My 3 week cold decided to finally break out of my bones and meant I sneezed my way through 3 days of freezing cold weather. Am still not right but am still 'feeding a cold' rather than 'starving a fever' and did try to eat healthily (which is much lovelier when someone else is cooking for you - thanks hotel chef) I would never have time to cook melon balls and slice and dice grapefruit never mind cook a full english each morning!

Brain is a bit addled and have got 2 mega weeks coming up with extra work and ds birthday so am going to write a list and get started.

Good news on the £ front is that since dh went cashcard cold turkey we have actually managed to stay in the black for 2 months - a very strange feeling to have £ in the bank on payday - keep looking at the balance slip to check it but it is right!:j

Afternoon all, so far today I've scrubbed the bathroom shiny, tidied the lounge and kitchen. Just gotta wash up and sort post pile. Can you tell I've got guests tonight! Still it saves me wasting my week off tidying up :)

Might be more a Matrix question, apologies if so, but how would you guys suggest promoting a new taxi business? As cheaply as possible, there's very little budget for advertising. I've made a FB page and promoted via local groups and they have business cards in local travel agents (for airport transfers).

I'm just on the journey learning about all things business, but if you're using social networking, would twitter help?

It might but I'd have to manage it as my dad (his business) is only just learning FB. Hmm will have a think, can register the name at least so it can't be taken!

I have a friend who does reikhi treatments amongst other things and she has recently started to use it. It seems a good way to keep reminding people that she's there. She has a little banter with followers along the way and can quickly advertise offers etc. That's good your Dad is having a bash at FB!!

Thanks MG - I have frozen spinach and ricotta, so that's on the list. I have ham, mushrooms, leeks and cream, so might do those together or as a coupld of different things. I have red peppers, courgettes and feta to try a new recipe. And I might try some of the AF crab with sweetcorn. There are a couple of vegetarians, some omnivores and one person so fussy I can never remember what she does and doesn't eat! I have plenty of lemons and oranges, map;e syrup left from last year and if I'm feeling energetic I might do bananas and chocolate sauce. We've done this every day for 10 years and i'm running out of new ideas!

A friend has sent me a photo of a section of work surface that looks as if it will work perfectly to finish off my utility room... so she'll bring that when she comes for pancakes on Tuesday. One more thing off the list, so i'm making slow but sure progress.

Shopping is done, which is lucky, as it has now started raining. I may try to shift some of next week's work so I have some flexibility if the weather is nice.

Quick catch- up whilst I am waiting for my Saturday night pizza to appear form the oven - because you wait for pizza it doesn't wait for you.

Made lovely vanilla cupcakes today with my HM vanilla extract and even my Mam was impressed - the whole house smells like a high class bakery. Boys ate their way through quite a few when we got home LOL.

Happy Saturdays - gonna curl up with "Lets Dance" tonight - gotta be worth a giggle.
