Pah to getting up but :T for happy post

I made lamb casserole yesterday - minimal meat and lots of sweet potato and OH loved it :D I think I may be able to crack this cooking on a budget if I can keep him on veggies. Tonight's dish is paella from a WW recipe so no expensive saffron required.

I still have a package to send northwards - will try and do it this week.

Did anyone manage to watch Channel 4 at 8pm last night? There is a new series that has started called Super Scrimpers which was interesting. They showed a family of 5 in Birmingham who wasted £200 a week on food - most of which they would chuck out so they took them somewhere and laid a table with a cloth, plates, cutlery and glasses and then came along with a bin lorry and deposited the amount of food they chuck out in a year (food costing over £2K:eek:) which gave them a shock. They were then told they had to spend £50 a week.

I learnt some things too about nails as they had someone showing girls how to get the fancy look from the nail bars that they visit at home for far less money. I will never look at one of those self adhesive reinforcing rings the same way ever again.

Horace - if you head over to the OS board there's a 'no throwing food away' thread somewhere. Very enlightening.

Sadly I had to throw out my breakfast. I made scrambled eggs with spring onion and red peppers, and although the eggs were fine in the bowl, I couldn't get near them to eat them. So have had nuts and dried fruit, my lovely shake ;) a cappucino when I went to the post office and some cold roasted squash I did last night. The latter I can eat, but my throat keeps closing up when I do. And I feel kind of 'raw egg sick' if that makes sense :-(. I think I might try starving myself today and hope I feel better tomorrow.

yuk :( I don't vomit... Or at least very, very rarely

I think a bath with a book and an early night are in order. Hope you all manage to hide from germs!

Off for a knit and natter social catch up with friends. Havent been out for ages due to feeling carp before Christmas, then a lull in carpness for festivities thank goodness and then floored last week by nasty flu bug. So looking forward to this - heck do I know how to live! Had wanted to have something more challenging on the needles but havent been up to it so I have found a baby 'beanie hat' I started some time ago for a friend who knits them for a charity who in turn send them to Africa amongst other places.

Tomorrow CT scan for sinus problems - where it all started over 2 years ago - long story. So far this month I have had MRI for benign brain tumour check up ( awaiting results), ultra sound for abdominal pain ( found 'large' gall stone!) so really cant wait to find out what they find for me tomorrow - nothing I hope :)
