ds (who to be honest would be happy in a motorway service station watching cars zoom by)
sounds like my DS! must be a boy thing!
Am loving reading all the suggestions. If we ever have money for holidays again, I would love to do some of them. DH used to live in Northumberland, he is originally from NE, but when we go there, it is time for family, not sightseeing, and I have told him that. There is so much I want to see as a tourist. Northumberland is beautiful but will be bitter in Feb, esp with the wind coming off the North Sea0 -
Igamogam - feel better soon. You have been through a lot since the beginning of the year.0

Dora - you could try https://www.holidaylettings.co.uk - search for property number 70653 (this is actually a cottage owned by friends of mine) it sleeps up to 8 people. (the website seems to be down for maintenance at the moment but should be back up and running next week). The cottage is in Barmouth North Wales so the attractions close by are: The Village of Portmeirion, Harlech Castle, Barmouth Castle, various steam railways, you can also get to the Centre for Alternative Technology too which is based at Machynlleth (it has vastly improved since I last went but it is an amazing place).
Now I shall go back and read everything that I have missed.0 -
Right, that's it. House immaculate, viewers have been and I'm spending the rest of the day on my bahookie, resting. I've worked myself to a standstill, or rather, a sit-down.
We took another load to the dump (where does it all come from??) this morning, and I think I'm finally de-cluttered in the garage, which is looking quite spacious - less like a store and it's now more possible for people to visulaise parking a car in it (not that many ever do!).
One or two things to sell, a couple of things for Freegle. Turns out I forgot half of my Armageddon supplies are in the garage so that was a nice find. I'll keep using it all up till I move, can always do another AF order when I am settled in the new place.
Great holiday ideas from everyone, we live in a very varied country. Dorastar just check that attractions are open in February because I had two February breaks in Berwickshire and some places I would like to have visited weren't open till Easter. If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Good to hear the decluttering is going well Groatie. I can't work out where it all come from either. I seem to spend the whole time throwing stuff out and swear I don't bring new stuff in. Although people keep on giving me stuff... Which is kind, but not when it's stuff I don't need!
My dad has challenged me to get my spare room floors and decorating done by the beginning of march, so that he can come down and build bookshelves for me. So I need to start researching tomorrow and calling round for quotes. I also need to make appointments for a blood test and the dentist which I keep forgetting to do.0 -
Dorastar - some nice places within budget here: http://www.mannsholidays.com/self-catering-north-wales/gwynedd/aberdaron/m520-holiday-apartment-situated-in-the-centre-of-seaside-aberdaron/details
We have used this agency a few times. It always rains when we go to Wales and there is a fair bir to do. The highlight for the boys (and the engineer husband) was the power station tour at Electric Mountain but there are plenty of other indoor things.
This one is good too : http://www.nefynholidays.co.uk/ and some reasonable stuff here: http://www.cottageguide.co.uk/tai-isaf/ (but not that specific cottage for which you need a 4X4 for the off road track to get to it, canoes and good weather!)'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -

Letters have been written (I've finally worked out what Sunday afternoons are for...) so I'm going to potter up to the post office before it gets dark and if I'm not too frozen, maybe head on a bit further in my quest for exercise... Then back home for a bit of laundry, a bath and an early night!
I'm happy it's cold, as the bugs in the garden should be killed off now. I'd like another couple of weeks of this, and then we can get back on track for spring please0
