Not having the best of days so far - ds first swimming lesson and he looked terrified, was physically shaking, hung onto the side, eventually let go and then floated off with his armbands and had to be rescued, and his verdict "That was brilliant I loved it!"

Then went to get nail gel stuff taken off nails only to find they must have missed a step out last time so now I have yellow nails  So free treatment today and complimentary luxury manicure Thursday to say sorry - look like I have been peeling tangerines:(

    Things can only get better.....please

Suitcase of stuff sent to charity shop. There's another bag and box in the car, but I'll take them next time. Finally managed to get a new battery for my pedometer. Went to the health food shop for vitamins and herbal tea and to order vegan linseed oil capsules (why would I want it in gelatine?). Picked up a few useful items of clothing in the sales too... Some tops and PJs. Also accidentally spent some more money in the Celtic sheepskin sale :o to be fair, it is the only time I really buy from them, and I love their stuff :)

I have a couple of hours free before I have to go out. It's my parents' ruby wedding anniversary this weekend, so my brother and I are taking them out. Suppose I should do some housework :(

Hello everyone. I dont know if this will be applicable to many of the Matrix peeps, but am popping in in here because it is a way of saving money. Its applicable to people on benefits, over 65, peeps who get DLA. and also for people on working tax or child tax credits.

£120 rebate (yes really) on your electricity bill

Hope it helps some. Fantasia x

Day slowly getting better as my lovely hairdresser has made me feel like a human being again (and she is cheaper than my previous hairdresser), DH has scrubbed the kitchen till it gleams and made a lovely gammon tea, and a friend is coming over with cake tomorrow. Is weird how one little haircut can turn a carpy day around.

Right need some Matrixey ideas - dh has got 8 days hols left to use up before end of March so thinking of going away somewhere at half term as Easter hols are too late. Last year we hired a cottage in Derbyshire near my olds but it was different to half term there so Derbyshire was closed. Ds is desperate for Eurodisney but don't feel like splurging while still sorting finances. Where can we go on mse style budget (self catering probably) with plenty for kids to do inside in manky uk weather?

Evening all, being dragged out tonight by friends but really not feeling it since I have £5 for the night! Still be nice to catch up, if we can hear ourselves think.

Water bill arrived today with 14 day notice - do you think they'll be reasonable to a payment plan? It's our first quarterly bill, and we don't have the money due to a tough few months.

    OK Dorastar - your challenge........

What area do you live in (have to assume you want to go elsewhere for a break)?
    How old is DS?
    What is DS into?
How do you "transport" yourselves on holiday - do you have a car & do you both drive (& do you drive if DH is in the car - had to ask this as I have a friend who doesn't :mad: - sorry - but I'm too bl00dy independent for my own good - & I'm the better driver)? This would give an idea of distance for a cheapie holiday.
What would be an unacceptable budget? Sadly - my ideas of cheap seem to differ from "normal" people?
What do you & DH fancy doing?

After interrogation :o we might come up with some ideas.....

My work is analysing stuff - I like information so that correct recommendations can be made - Can you tell? :p
