kevsam65 wrote:Hi marcellep....any updates on the email you sent citi re o/d etc?? asking as we're still undecided whether to stick with this account , or swap to the basic.
cheers , sam.
Sorry I forgot to post what happened.
When I called Telephone banking they advised me that I need to have the account for 3mths before I could have the overdraft added to the account. I asked them what was the point paying £10 per month if I was not getting all the benefits of the account ie the OD. he kindly advised me I have the option to downgrade to the access account however if I did I would never be able to add a OD to my account.
Hope the helps
I am keeping the Plus account for the time being, Now that other banks offer a similar account ie the Halifax are now offering a Reward account with all these benefits and they are charing for it. I guess its bye bye to free banking. :money:If I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -

the only difference between the two is the 3in1 card with cheque book, and the £10 monthly charge, and although I was going to go with the current account, I have just switched back to the access account, as I dont want an overdraft which you can have anyway with the fee free account, and I have no need for a cheque book, I will however take up alternative card protection on my citi card. and I have my mobiles covered by my house insurance, I dont go aboard, so dont need that benefit.
hope this helpful to anyone.

I knew that, however I can only go by what the staff at the call centre said to me on the phone.
I would advise people to call and check with the staff of you will get a OD with the access accountIf I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -
Aaaaah , that makes things a bit clearer cw , lol. I had thought that you couldnt get the overdraft with the basic account , and tbh , im not that bothered about the 3 in 1 card , dont imagine i'll need to write that many cheques anyway.
thanks ,

Update
Got through to the call centre, very helpful gentleman explained that Standing Orders remain unpaid until the close of banking day. I asked why this was the case. Prompt reply we do this to allow us customers to get the most of there money. Ie Interest,
So my SO will be paid! Thank the lord
I also asked if they where very busy, Oh No was his reply. So no reason for the long delay in getting through
I was getting myself worried then until I remembered I've always paid tax on interest ... lol
I've also noticed they've been busier in the last 2 days .... Didnt have to wait anymore then 10 minutes though ...:happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove

Update regarding Citi bank Standing Orders
My SO have still not been paid -
called telephone banking just now, oh was only on hold for 4 mins
Citi bank advise SO leave the accounts between 20.00hrs and 21.00hrs.If I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -
Hi I'm sure it will be ok, mine goes out every thursday but doesn't show up until friday morning, you know it says
taxable interest
does that mean we will have to pay tax to the tax man on the interest,
its been along time since I had a current account, not sure I knew much about it then, sure as hell dont understand it now, anyone help me out here,
although 1p isnt much, I have managed to swap most of my DD's to the 1st of the month so that I will have more money in at the end of this month, so more money means more tax I guess, and might mean trouble with the tax man by the end of my 1st year.

I have applied today for a citi account, I hope i get it. I have had a rbs key account since 2001 and they wont upgrade it even tho my credit file shows my ccj as satisfied and have no other outstanding debts.
Since getting online I have needed a credit/debit card but due to previous debt probs i couldn't get one, so opted for the expensive cashplus mastercard to use online.
To get the citi bank account will save me another £4.95 a month as I can then use the debit card supplied, and get rid of the cashplus card.
A big thanks to this site for providing me with this lifeline:D0 -
