Hi Guys
I have waited four years to get a current account again, after a disasterous ordeal with a joint account which left me in a mess.
I sent the application off twice only for it to be returned to me twice saying I hadn't sent them the right documents (even though I clearly did and alsoo included a cover letter stating so). But third time lucky and I finally have a debit card again, it's going to be so much easier now not having to find a cashpoint wherever I go which was always a pain the neck.0 -
I can relate to that Beecham, use Citi as a way to rebuild your credit history and get in with a high street bank that offers Visa/Maestro.
But for now congratulations.0 -

Anyway, my point being between us we've got five places NOT to use with our Citibank cards, anymore that I/we should all know about?

Well I have posted these before, But seeing as the thread is so long now i'll repeat them here.
Maplins Electronics - Not Chip & Pin
Tesco and Asda "Pay @ Pump" - but works fine if you go into the kiosk
Silverlink Trains - Doesn't work at the Self Service machines, The Ticket Office or with a conductor on the Train.
I've also had trouble in various places when their link to their banks authorisation computers is down. This happened in my local Tesco the other week, Yet they were able to take my Halifax Electron card which is supposed to be authorised each time

Pretty much anywhere overseas (Europe at least), i.e. fuel stations, supermarkets, hotels, restaurants. It does work OK in bank machines though. Fortunately though, since banking with Citibank, I applied for a AAdvantage Gold Card (never expected to get accepted) which I received with a £3,500 credit limit. When travelling now I use this card and settle in full on my return.

Above all the Citi problems, I really must remember this, as it rings true with me.
Are they still offering full account details Visa card, cheque book etc to those in the credit of red?0 -
Just reading the last few threads..
Are people really finding that by banking with Citibank that they're credit ratings are improving so much they are being accepted for things?

Yes!!
Now have Next a/c with large credit limit however only spend in the sales and pay it all off within a month or two. Also have a credit card again albeit with only £250 credit limit on it. Again buy shopping once or twice a month and pay it off immediately.
Could'nt get anything before had citi a/c.0 -

I got my full function account back in about April time. They were certainly relaxed in their criteria then, but others seem to report a tightening of their procedures.

On the note of how helpul Citi is to establish you better on the credit scale, I have been accepted for a Nat West Current Plus. Which cmes with Maestro Cheque Guarentee card. Splendid!0

and how long have you all been with Citibank?
I stopped using mine when I had a few problems with people using my account, and went back to my Halifax easycash account. I'm never going to see an upgrade with that one!
I'm currently in an IVA so I'm not going to get any credit anyway, But If i'ts going to improve my credit rating for when my IVA is over then perhaps I should go back to them.
Another bonus I guess is that you get a cheque book, Halifax don't issue them anymore on cardcash accounts
