They were really helpful and agreed a huge £25 refund in ten minutes on the phone.
Even so, it's still £25!.:T ...in ten minutes! (not a bad hourly rate... I only earn half that:rotfl:

I made my 1st post on this site approx 1year ago on the subject of morgage exit fees.

Today I received a cheque for £126 from the Abbey.

It was a long time coming but I call that a result, better late than never!.:j

    Thanks Martin.

Just phoned Barclays/Woolwich to make a claim. They asked my a/c number and address of property mortgaged and then told me I was entitled to £245.00. I then gave them my bank a/c details and was told a credit would be made within 2 days. the whole call lasted 3 minutes! Amazing. Dont you just love this site?

Wrote to Cheltenham & Gloucester using the Template in Martin's article.

Had a response back within 5 days to say that they will shortly be issuing a refund of £144.87 - based on the closing admin fee in my mortgage documents being £90, the closing admin fee I paid being £225, and interest of £9.97.

    Success!

Thanks Martin, for making things so easy with your article and Letter Draft.

    Regards,

    Richard Tubb.
  • We requested a Mortgage Redemption Statement to pay off our mortgage on the 28th February - duly supplied with a "Sealing Fee" of £225 included.

I sent the full payment (including the Sealing Fee) to ensure we were free of them from March 1st but sent a letter requesting a refund of the Sealing Fee as it had increased substantially, etc., etc.

Bank Account credited on 2nd March with a £140 Sealing Fee Refund then again (twice) on the 6th March with two further Sealing Fee Refunds of £140.

    How kind!

Phoned the C & G today - took 5 minutes all sorted there and then - they are transfering £90 to the bank plus £13.03 interest.

Easy money. I'd recommend do it in a phone call. All I needed was the mortgage account number and to confirm the month and year the account was closed. Job done
  • hi I am in exactly the same position as you!! charged £225 early repayment fee, and no sign of this charge in any of the reams of printouts that go with the mortgage offer. I have a generic fees sheet which makes no mention of MEAFs or repayment fees? any ideas?? I am loath to call them as I reckon they will try to fob me off??
