Took out an endowment mortgage with Yorkshire in 1997.

    Remortaged in 2007. Paid a £ 199 exit fee.

Followed the template and wrote to Yorkshire. Got a reply back explaining the agreed charging structure at the time I took it out and a cheque for £ 120.

Nice and simple and no fighting.

  • Hope someone can help me!!

My previous mortgage was held with SunBank which I believe was sold to Portman in about 2003- could be wrong!

Unable to locate any current contact details for SunBank obviously for this reason, so would Portman be responsible? and would they honour any refund that was due? Plus would they hold details of what I was charged and what was originally stated?

    Any help much appreciated.
  • Halifax has promised to send a cheque for £60 in the past within 28 days to cover the excess MEAFs! Even used saynoto0870 website so phone call was free too! :j
    Brilliant
  • We were with the Woolwich. Phoned Barclays today. Certainly, you'll have the £150 in your account by Friday..

  • The Beeman uk here in Matlock , Derbyshire. We received £87.50 from the Bristol & WEst Building Society. Our contract fee was £87.50 and we overpaid by the same ammount. No hassle return of monies. The only gall was that they returned the amount as an act of good faith. Thanks Martin
  • I dug out all of the paperwork from when we moved house 2 years ago. Our previous mortgage was with the Halifax so I gave them a ring, gave them our details and got told I was due a refund of £125. It took no more than 2 minutes and the lady which I spoke to was really friendly and helpful. Good service AND money back - Happy Days!!
  • Many thanks. I exited a mortgate in 2004 and could not remember what if any MEF's I had paid. I wrote to Coventry Building Society anyway with the standard letter, and low and behold just over a week later a cheque arrived from them for £100. They did say that their policy was not to pay my interest charge or admin charge....... but good of them... no bother no wait either.

  • £35 back from the Halifax! Not the biggest amount - but hey it's mine and they had it all along.

This is from my old mortgaged closed February 2003 - so worth looking back through the records.

Took me a while to pluck up the nerve to ring - no need because it was easy. Should have done it ages ago.
