  • Tried Scottish widows who I had mortgage with in 2004, they said you paid £100, I said so was I overcharged?, they replied you paid £100?.

Might try again but no paperwork!

Why do you think you were overcharged?

What was the amount on your offer/contract? If £100, then you were not overcharged. If it said say £50, then you were.

  • One phonecall to Skipton Building Society on Thursday, cheque for £130 arrived Saturday. What a result! They were very friendly to deal with, didn't ask any questions other than ID. All I said was that I was ringing to query my Exit Redemption Fee, simple as that. Many, Many Thanks.

Thanks, I looked on old paperwork and there no mention of any exit fee at all so I wasn't sure:confused:
  • Norwich & Peterborough - very nice man aware of the problem of sealing fees as highlighted by ML (told me he had recently done his own refund) paid me £105 within 2 days of phone call.

Many thanks for a great result

Hi like to say thankyou Martin. I used your template letter to try to re claim charges from when I changed my mortgage 3 years ago. I had no idea how much I had paid, or if I'd even been overcharged at the time. However the Birmingham Midshires did not question me, they just sent me a cheque for £100 as a 'goodwill gesture'.

Just to say thanks - I spent 2 mins on the phone to the halifax and received a cheque for £100 a few days later.
  • HI just like to say thanx saw the show made a 5 min call to the woolwich :T am to get 165 quid in 5 to 7 days
  • Getting a refund of £125 from Halifax for a 2 minute call. Yey.

Have to wait for the Abbey to send a form for a refund.
  • Hi! I read about reclaiming the exit fees on mortgages very late last night, so gave C&G a call this morning.

After a very easy 2 minute phone call she said I was overcharged by £130 and will forward it to the relevant department who will add interest and refund us by direct bank credit within 14 days :j . That must be the easiest £130 I have ever earnt :T

Thanks MSE I owe you a very large drink!
