Been meaning to do this for a while. I had ten minutes today so chanced my arm. I rang the Yorkshire BS who I had moved from 3 years a go and had been with them 5 years before that (There is something about 2001 and FSA guidance- sorry not read all thread) Anyway I had no docs, no account number, they located my details by name address, National Insurance number and within ten minutes I am getting a refund of £52 (Not loads but better in my pocket) They were really helpful!! I was so surprised I nearly asked them what there current deals are?
Anyway thanks to this site a couple of bob I didn't expect0 -
After watching the show yesterday I decided to call the C&G to see if I was owed anything. It couldn't of been easier and they are now sending me a cheque for £205.53 which even includes interest. How good is that? I'm so glad I turned on channel 5 last night!
Thanks Martin x0 -
Wow, got the cheque today from Abbey. Fast response from them. Full explaination of what I paid and what was quoted on my original mortgage offer. Seems I paid £99 instead of £95, so £4 back!! Can't complain though, it all free money! Should I try and claim the interest back too?0

After watching Martin's new show dug out some old paperwork realting to a C&G mortgage for the period 12/00 to 05/03. Five minutes on the phone to a polite employee - no hassle, and I've got some money on its way to my bank account! Thanks Martin!!0

Following Martin's latest tip on reclaiming mortgage fees, I contacted Barclays on their free phone number to query whether we were entitled to a refund following our closing our mortgage three years ago. I found them to be very helpful and was pleased to be provided with a refund of £45 plus interest of 4% p.a.. Thank you Martin, This has been one of many tips I have found to be useful!0

Blimey, 2mins on phone to RBS with no documentation for a mortgage I switched in 2005, £150 back, paid to bank accounts
Easiest £150 I have ever made:beer:
Thanks Martin0 -
Great news I claimed back £154.38 overpayment today on a mortgage redemption fee from when I remortgaged in 2005. It took 5 minutes to process and should be in my account within 5 days. Thanks so very much for making us aware that we can claim our money back. Keep up good work.:rotfl:0

Thanks Martin,
Natwest mortgage 2002 quoted exit fee of £85 actually paid £225 in 2004
Resultant rebate of £140
Excellent tv programme by the way... :T
Ever thought of doing a radio show?
I listen to a US guy on a phone-in, talk radio show all the time through podcast and could see you making a success of a similar venture - check it out www.daveramsey.com
One day I'll be screaming debt free too!0 -
I contacted Alliance and Leicester this month as I thought I'd been charged too much for my exit fee a couple of years ago - £295.
They responded very quickly with a letter explaining the charges (although to me it didn't make sense) however, they enclosed a cheque for £220!:j
I'm now going to try it with Chelsea which was my mortgage provider before Alliance and Leicester! I will report back.0 -
Just wanted say got £130 back from Abbey Nat today for a mortgage we exited back in 2002 ! I complained back in Oct 07, they offered £30, I said no and complained further, today I got a cheque for £130. Bare in mind, I had no paperwork, no recollection of mortgage account no and no idea what I was charged if any, but hey, what did it cost me ??? Two 1st class stamps, patience and persistence. I also at the same time as complaining to Abbey Nat, rang The Woolwich (as suggested, directed and recommended by Martin) who we had a mortgage with from 2002-2006. The phone call lasted 2 minutes, I got through straight away to a dedicated MEAF's hotline and was instantly sent £90.
Worth it I'd say. Martin you are a genius :j :T  Cheers.0
