  • I phoned Portman this morning about my £150 exit fee and they are sending me a cheque for £120. that's what i call success, well done Martin.
  • After last night's show we dug out our old paperwork, used Martin's guide, and in 8 minutes this morning got told we would get £83 back (including interest) from 2001.
I'm not sure quite how they worked out the figures but it was about what we hoped for and more than we would have got if it hadn't been for Martin and It Pays To Watch, so Thanks Martin and CHEERS!!

  • Hiya, I've just rung Abbey and asked to reclaim and been told they'll send me a form, is this right?
  • I changed mortgage from Nat West to Brittania in 2005 . I'd only had the mortgage 2 yrs so was doubtful I'd be due much./any...
After watching your prog last night -I checked my details . At first I didnt have a clue - then spotted the 'Sealing Fee' on my Redemption charges bill - low & behold the Account charges info showed them as £85 in 2003. I was charged a whopping £225! Just phoned Nat West who were very helpful . £140.00 coming into my account in 10 days ! Fantastic! Thank you Martin! :j :A

  • I can't believe it,I have just rang Natwest to reclaim my fee back after watching the programme last night and to my atonishment I have got back £140 for 10mins work.

I rang Natwest last year trying to claim this fee but I was fobbed back with an excuse that I had additional borrowing on my mortgage. But this time, I had no problem at all and the monies are to be paid directly into my current account.

    thanks so much Martin! :T :T :T :T

    Another success here.

Found the dedicated phone number for Woolwich/Barclays on Martin's article and phoned them just now. I'm getting just over £99 back (£95 plus interest).

Am very happy, thank you Martin

Chances are that you tried claiming it back before the FSA had made a ruling on it before. Now the FSA has set the standard, the companies are generally playing ball.

  • Hi, My lender has confirmed I paid and MEAF however as my mortgage was redeemed in 2005 I will not get a refund as the refund policy came in in 2006 is this correct - anyone else come accross this one...
  • Lost count of how many times I've read about MEAFs in the weekend papers and on the weekly emails but bizarrely never done anything about it. Was watching the new program tonight (thursday) on my Sky+ tonight, paused it on the adverts, went into the attic, got the archived docs, did some googling, came here, phoned C&G, waited a while in a queue, but once through, confirmed a £142.50 refund for a 1999 mortgage closed in 2005. About 20 minutes work in total. Cannot explain why the TV program was the catalyst for me doing this, but thanks anyway!
  • Rang the helpline number in Martin's article. They sent a form (got it in a week), got a cheque for £140 a week later! (Original fee quoted £85 they charged £225 5 years later)

    Thanks Martin!
