Apologies first of all if this is not strictly the correct area.

I have had a Rapid Repay Mortgage with the Clydesdale for just under 3 years, and have had to pay a MEAF of £195 in the last few days. If it states this amount in the original agreement (which I confess I haven't checked yet as I am at work) can I still apply for some sort of refund?

    Any help greatly appreciated.
  • Hi, I paid £180 just over 2 years ago to redeem my mortgage through C&G. I wrote to them on 16 May asking for £135 back and got a cheque for £103.71 today, but without any explanation. Fantastic - thanks for the advise martin.

Should I accept this or chase for more?

    Success - thanks Martin!

In 2004, C&G had charged me £180 to leave their mortgage. Rang the access number in the article, and a very nice customer services lady looked up the account, found that the original contract in 2000 had said £50. She did the calculations and said that C&G will send a cheque for £130 + interest = a touch under £150. Took me five minutes - nice one!

(BTW good one on the C&G for adding interest automatically - that does endear me to them.)

    Thanks again Martin.

    Dave.

Sent my letter off to them on 14/05 asking for the overpayment only expecting £30. I recieved a letter within 7 days saying i'd over paid by £130 so they would send me a cheque which came this morning.

    Hi All

Just got my cheque for £75 from Halifax today for exit fee of £175. Taken two weeks but well worth it after only one phone call.

    Thanks Martin :T

Used Martin's standard letter about a week ago.

RBOS are paying £150 into my current account, which represents the difference between the sealing fee of £225 I was charged, and the £75 in the terms and conditions when I took out the mortgage.

Tried for interest at 8% but that was a non-goer.

    Still a good result though!!!
