  • I contacted Lloyds regarding 2 seperate mortgages (one with Lloyds and another with C&G) at the satart of last week and after a 10 minute phonecall I was told a cheque for the difference between my contract terms and the actual fee would be posted out. I had the cheque for £160 in my account by the end of that week! :j

Fogot to say they actually gave me interest on top without me even having to ask. Big thanks to Martin!!
  • Sorry if this has been covered in this thread but has anyone managed to claim anything back from Intelligent Finance?

I moved from IF to Alliance & Leicester in Sept 2006 and was charged £175. i could not find anything in the original offer.

I have read that some people have not been successful in getting this back.
  • Hi,

Just a thank you. I closed my mortgage with Alliance and Leicester with an exit fee of £295. After reading the article I went straight to the militant letter approach and the result was a cheque for £210

If there was no difference between the amount on your original contract and the fee you paid when you changed mortgages then you get nothing back.

You can only claim back the difference, not the whole amount.

    Northern Rock
Thanks Martin, one quick letter, and then a week late a letter back asking me to sign and agree to accepting £75 that they over charged me. Two days later cheque in my hand. Was so quick and painless ( unlike the bank charges I am reclaiming) thanks again. Kate
  • I remortgaged in 2002, switching away from Northern Rock BS, so decided to use Martin's template letter and fee tables to see what I could recover.

I had no idea how much redemption fee I had paid as all I saw was a single settlement valuation for my new mortgagee to pay, so I looked up the Northern Rock value for the year and sent off the letter.

I've just received a cheque for £70 for 20 mins effort.

    THANKS !
