It looks like they are using this term to refuse to deal with you
We will only accept trade in games from customers who are dealing with us as a consumer and if we suspect that you are operating on a commercial basis we will decline to trade with you.

As others have said you need to contact their head office to clarify the situation.

"These have been mainly the same few titles as I could raise a few pounds by buying elsewhere & trading them at Argos."

    Sounds pretty commercial to me
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

well if this is the case then the OP is LEGALLY entitled to the games he exchanged back
  • Buying in bulk to trade for a profit is commercial.

i agree, but the OP would still be entitled to have all the exchanged games returned to them as Argos suddely say after accepting the trades that they would not accept the trades, so therefore the games the OP gave to Argos are not the property of Argos as they have stated they would not honour the trades.

so the OP should contact Argos CS and say that he wants his games back then

The problem is not that they haven't accepted the games the problem is with spending the gift cards which is a separate transaction.

Why assume they'll say the same ?
    Pick up the phone LOL

There's plenty of jobsworths in retail who make up their own rules just to make themselves feel important. This may not even be company policy- and anyway you've allowed a reasonable length of time to pass and nothing has happened so you are more than justified in getting CS involved.

I rang Argos head office who just referred me to the store manager.

  • Personally I donot see that you have done anything wrong. ALthough I did not know argoss buy second hand games.

Even if you have sold on a commercial level, why should this be a problem.

    What I would do.
If you have the receipts for the purchase of the games, then simply call the Police when you are at the store, and say someone has robbed you and you need assistance. Have a seat and then when the Police come inform them that you have called them because you have been defrauded, or that Argos has your property and they donot want to give a refund or the property.
And repeat that you callled the Police because you want your vouchers back or the property.

Alternativly, write a letter to argos head office, and state that you are owed money or vouchers or the ipod.
and that if the ipod is not delivered then you will sue for the value of the receipt in the small claims court.

Sadly they will reply back and say to you that we dont owe you anything, even though the games and vouchers are with them. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE IT HAPPENED TO ME

Then you issue court proceedings and win in court and claim lots more.
private message me if you goto court and I will show you how to make about £55

Because it breeches the terms of the offer.

you are owed money or vouchers or the ipod
Or their games returning to them.
