  • Have you been refunded? If so, contact amazon and tell them to arrange a time convenient to you to collect the item (at their cost). Depending on how much the item cost they may just tell you to keep it.

Yes, I guess that's the most honourable thing to do. They did deal with me quite well with the customer service etc. I dont really fancy waiting in again for them to receive it though. The thing is, i was planning to buy it again at the end of the month (August 29th) it was such a faff getting it in the first place, that I wonder if I should just hold onto it then offer to pay again at the end of the month.

In my area we have a notorious problem with the local Royal Mail delivery office. Everyone complains about it and plenty of complaints to RM have got nowhere.

But, Amazon have started using RM a lot in my area for their Prime 'next day delivery' service. Needless to say, not one of my Prime orders has arrived on time when they've used RM as the courier.

A complaint to Amazon has triggered four free additional months Prime membership - they seem to be happy to give a free month every time a delivery doesn't make it by next day.

Overall a good temporary outcome. But I won't be renewing my Prime membership next year unless they ditch RM.
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.

Well theres a simple reason for that. Amazon dont use a next day service with RM. 'Prime' as they write on their packages, mean nothing in RMs services.
Amazon used to use SD for Prime. now they use plain old 1st/2nd class post. They have access to 24/48 hour tracked services but dont use them.

Glad to see my post was deleted asking why the poster two above would complain to Amazon about the Royal Mail. Clearly it was such a contentious and offensive question that it had to be removed from the boards post haste. How sad.
  • I use Amazon a lot and mostly it's fine but I've had two occasions when the courier (Amazon Logistics) have claimed to attempt a delivery but have done no such thing.

I have a decent CCTV system which showed no evidence of attempted delivery, no card received and in any case I asked for the delivery to be left in a safe place if I was out...

Last time I used the call back facility and spoke to customer service by phone. They apologised and extended my prime membership by a month. They also promised to find out what had happened and send me an explanation. Unfortunately they never actually sent me an explanation so I suspect the didn't bother to try top find out what happened.

Today I received an email telling me my delivery was attempted at a time when I was actually in my front garden! I reviewed CCTV footage for the hour preceding the claimed delivery time and can only assume they are using the invisible man in his invisible van as a courier, with a pack of invisible cards to inform my of the attempt.

I have been promised an explanation and my prime membership has been extended, again. If I do receive an explanation, I'll post it here.

I joined Prime a couple of days ago. If you get this and they extend by one month does that also mean you get one extra month of the instant video as well?
  • I ordered a large item on Friday from Amazon for next day delivery (I'm a Prime member) it was delivered on Monday. On Friday evening, I saw the same item for £160 less on Amazon Marketplace (but supplied by Amazon and with Prime) so I requested a cancellation of my original order and ordered the cheaper item.

I then received an email to say that they couldn't cancel the item but to refuse delivery so I did that. So imagine my surprise when after I refused to accept the delivery (Yodel, shocking, I know), not 24 hours later does a man from the house seven doors down from me (who I've never spoken to before!) come knocking on my door wanting to know when I'll be picking up the massive box cluttering up his hallway.

In the meantime the other order (the more expensive one, I found out!) has been delivered properly, accepted, installed and used and the box chucked!

I thought easily fixed - I'll just send the cheaper order back to Amazon, it says free returns so no problem. Only there's no option for that - only 'I'll send and pay'. Which, given the thing is 31kg and about 5ft by 3ft - will cost about £90 to return according to my Googling.

    I don't bloody think so.

yes, it's all part of the same service now.

The explanation received was that a delivery attempt was made. I am trying to establish what constitutes a delivery attempt as I know for sure that no attempt was made to enter my property which is detached with a fenced garden and single point of entry.

To add insult to injury they claimed to have attempted to deliver again today. Once again I have checked cameras and nothing. During my long conversation with Amazon yesterday I made it clear that I was not around to accept delivery today and to leave the item in the agreed safe place.

Furthermore yesterday's customer care person promised to follow up and ensure delivery today, which they clearly failed to do. Today's person promised to get the courier to deliver today and to call at 7pm to check that this had happened. It's now nearly 8pm and no call or delivery...
  • In the past, I have preferred ordering from Amazon because of the next day delivery with Prime. Had a few problems with deliveries (a mattress that never turned up, the delivery company lost it, two weeiks wasted waiting for it was the worst) but it was rare.

But the last few months its become deplorable. Seems to be linked to their setting up of Amazon Logistics but the deliveries have not consistently been by amazon logistics. Now its rare that I get next day delivery, not the norm. I've received emails saying a parcel has been delivered an hour after ordering it (twice) lol. The amazon logisitics courier for this area is obviously scared of dogs, kept dumping parcels on the front door step and running.., even after I showed him the gate stopping my dogs getting anywhere near the hallway.

So I now don't give Amazon any preference at all when I am considering who to buy from. I won't be renewing my prime membership either. I've sent loads of emails on this issue, they apologise, deny the problem exists. Their loss.
