Thing is Littlewoods dont have detailed description so no real comparison can be done.

The one for 499 is apparantly with double memory and missing ATI graphics card when compared with LW.

Yeah i quickly checked, no part number so you'd never really know. Some retailers (DSG for one) sell differnet laptops for retail stores. its possible that its one of those ... although i doubt it.

Any mail I receive from them will go straight back!!

That really is very naughty of them.
I also find it very hard to believe that they can't close or delete an account.

Any letters / catalogues they send me will go straight back in the post - no stamp of course

The 25% discount e-mail doesn't make clear if they are throwing in the software for free or expect you to order both. I bet it is the latter!!

Mine still shows accepted, money has been taken from my card, I've received no cancellation email but I received the 25% offer this morning.

I guess if I receive the software then I may have something to go on?

You will get the laptop at original price with 25% off AND will get one of these software packages free.

Also you will not be able to order online (so no quidco)
and you can not apply any other discount voucher on top.

I believe you will get the software as a separate package/item. You can sell the software on ebay if you dont need it.

(for Vista you can keep the one pre-installed and sell the extra one or use it on another pc)

I have had the same letter, we ordered 2 of the 129 ones, they have actually taken both payments from our bank and we have a printed out statement proving this, and yet they stilll sent a letter asying that the bank declined the payment, checked with bank all gone through fine.

Oh and forgot to add, I am going to be calling them up soon and telling them how disgraceful their tactics are, I cannot understand why they did not just realise the problem and not call for anyones money in the first place, again disgraceful customer service, naughty naughty naughty LX Direct I should put you over my knee and smack your bottom.

I was naive I guess and did think they were selling a clearance load of them at £149. Hardly a 49p TV! Plus PC World sold some off after Xmas for about £200 didn't they?
I believe Littlewoods are rubbing salt in the wounds with this offer and it's going to inflame the situation, not help!
