Don't let him/her put you off! There are a few like him/her who seem to be intent on chasing after people in the aftermath of misprice threads and trying to show their "knowledge" and "better experience" of these things.
Whilst in most circumstances letting go of it is the only logical option (and correct one), well in some instances, like this, for some people, it may be worthwhile pursuing it.
There are from what I gather (from what has been posted here, elsewhere and going by what some have mentioned to me in PMs) two categories of people who have a strong chance of getting success.
Firstly, those who have been sent software. For those for whom this happened, pursue it. There is absolutely no question that you are legally entitled to receive the laptop as they have entered into a contract with you and only supplied half the order.
Secondly, for those that have had payment taken from their card (debit or credit). As long as the money was actually taken (and not simply ringfenced), then it being refunded is not wholly relevant. Pursue it.
In most misprice cases there is absolutely no grounds to even imagine that you are either entitled to receive anything (legally of course, morally is a whole other issue) or likely to get anything beyond a good will gesture if you are lucky (see Play.com Pink Panther situation). This is one of the minority of cases. Littlewoods have mishandled it for some of the purchasers from a legal point of view and there are many people that are legally entitled to receive the goods.
To give another recent example of a misprice - the amazon Seinfeld box set one. I and some others ordered very early. For those that they had ready for immediate dispatch, they charged our cards immediately, and therefore sent the goods. For those that hadn't been charged, they got a cancellation email. Amazon didn't make any errors, such as charging cards and then refunding and cancelling orders. Or sending out, say only one part of the boxset. Had they done either, they would have been obliged to provide the whole box set at the misprice that was offered. In the laptop case, for some customers, Littlwoods have made the equivalent mistakes, but still not honoured the contract. I say if you feel morally OK with it, then go for it!0 -

Why would it be easier? On the basis of the law, they have accepted his/her contract, but not supplied the complete product. On what basis are you suggesting that he/she is not entitled to the products for which they had payment accepted and have therefore entered into contract for?0 -
No question, if you have the software, ring up and chase the laptop! By supplying part of the goods they have started to fill the contract with you as per their terms and conditions (the contract will only be formed when we ship the goods).
Of course, this is assuming that they didn't contact you and you said yes, send me the software etc etc but still have screen grabs from the whole order! (they will have records if they have contacted you!)0 -

It is easier as Littlewoods are apparantly not honouring the misprice of the laptop even though they have changed the description after the sale from a laptop to a piece of software.
The majority that ordered this item knew it was a misprice and most people will just let it go and wait for the next item that misprices on the forum but the odd few will try and get trading standards and threaten law suits against the company but at the end of the day it was a too good to be true deal and Littlewoods probably have tons of ways to break the contract. Whether or not you can use the "loss of bargain" law against littlewoods is a different matter but most people will not bother with the item and forget about it as it's clearly not worth the hassle as Littlewoods are not honouring the sale0 -
I recently saw Toshiba A100 laptops for sale on the Littlewoods website for £149.00 each. I ordered 2 and received a confirmation email quoting an order reference number. Days later they emailed me and said there was a price error on these computers and refused to homour the sale. Where do i satnd re advertising and sales law?
They have also sent me another remail offering a price reduction of approx 5% as 'a offer of goodfaith'.0 -

I think you should read all the previous posts. The gist of it is there not a cat in hells chance of winning any case, thats why everyone else is waiting for the next error in pricing. It was fun whilst it lasted and there was always a miniscule chance Littlewoods would screw up and send some. Best of luck next time.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
