So ... what interest rate does a Merchant Account pay ?

Here's a clue kid. I pay for the Merchant Account facility, they don't pay me.

I'm hardly a kid but thanks for enlightening me :o

I have now received my cancellation as expected, hopefully the money will be refunded soon. Time to move on...........until the next time

If they deliver just software they will be in breach of contract. It should be relatively straightforward to sue them if they subsequently refuse to honour the contract. Distance selling regs apply equally to software as any other product.

I had a letter today saying that my card issuer has refused authorisation of my payment.

Called the bank and they said it was not a problem on my banks' end.

Why do they have to lie?

  • Dear MR FLYNN,

Our website recently displayed a Toshiba Laptop and associated software at an incorrect price. You placed an order for the laptop at the incorrect price, which we have already declined.

However, we do value your custom and as a goodwill gesture, we would like to offer you the Toshiba A100 laptop and your choice of either Microsoft Office Home and Student software or Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition software with a 25% discount off the correct selling price which is now displayed on our website. .

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please call 08450 757 171 and one of our customer service advisors will process your request.

    Kind Regards

Pleased to say that mine arrived today as well. I'd paid £249 19s 9d for it in real money. Unfortunately it will have to go back as I got the ladies' version by mistake:

When I get mine, can we swap :rotfl::rotfl:

Don't worry, people will be posting that info for the next three pages as and when it hits their inboxes without checking to see where the thread is up to.

This discount offer is an indication to me that they might be trying to dissuade court action for 'loss of bargain' after having now talked to their lawyers about it. Now why on Earth would they want to stop people going to small claims over £150/£250 laptops after having consulted their lawyers ? :)

Sadly the answer may well be "yes" as I have piles of 1990's laptops left over from my previous business.
Money saving tip: Don't buy laptops intending to do up and resell if you're not going to do it within ten years ;)
    Can I help?
