  • I'm not sure what your argument is andrewk? You seem to contradict your original response to my post. Do you still think people are going to get the laptop?

I was rebutting the point you made. Just because I don't care about the individual case doesn't mean I don't care about accuracy. ;)

No, they don't have to, but bad press costs. Sometimes it's cheaper to absorb the cost of a mistake than it is to lose customers. That's pretty much what it comes down to.

Ah, so you say there is a chance. I thought you said there was no chance at all!

You misunderstood. I ordered one initially (as many others) as the price was obviously great and theres always a glimmer of a chance these things go through automatically before someone notices.

Though once the price mistake was picked up by the company and the cancellation emails sent, then my point was simply to the people who havent seen a mis-price thread before that theres no point wasting time going on about it in this case as it just isnt going to happen.

You then made your argument about the gamecube misprice being honoured which suggests that it still might happen in this case and that they'd change their mind. Which again just isn't going to happen considering they've sent out cancellation emails and from many of us seeing this type of thing many times before. No point in getting peoples hopes up by quoting an experience 2 years ago, which was a mis-price of far less value.

Hence why I innocently posted that we've seen it all before and there really no need to talk legal, consumer rights, watchdog etc etc. No point in people who haven’t seen this kind of thing before getting all worked up and spend time and effort flogging a dead horse. A mistakes a mistake.

Hope this is clear now. Moving on please....:money:
  • I got an Order Confirmatio email today (Wednesday evening) for:
2 "A100" laptop with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 PR4277* at £298

But if I log in no the website it says:
MICROSOFT OFFICE HOME AND STUDEN ONE SIZE ONE COLOUR

Shall I cancel it now? Are they gonna be arsy if I wait for the item to be delivered and then want a refund? Isn't this deliberate mis-advertisement?

    No, they made a mistake.
    Can I help?
  • I ordered one of these these yesterday and received the order confirmation for :

1 "A100" laptop with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition PR3933* @ £249

Have not had any further communication from Littlewoods.

Didn't really expect to get it - but think littlewoods are handling this really badly.
Surely they cannot change the description of item after sending clear confirmation, then proceed to send us the new item without informing us of any change ?

I would not have realised that the description of the item had changed on the site had I not checked in here tonight.

If you couldn't afford £129 why oh why did you order? Phone them & cancel.

Do you have any actual proof of this statement?

It may well have been a deliberate ploy to sign up new customers.

None of us know without any evidence.
  • Just noticed the £250 authorisation has been applied which along with a few other things I'd ordered on my card elsewhere, and being a day away from my last payment clearing, has left me with £7.12 available credit! I hope nothing else is charged to my card or I guess I'll get a penalty for being over my limit :( I didn't know an authorisation counts towards the card provider charging this, I've just called them and they tell me this is the case.

My order still says accepted too, albeit for the software only.

Then I politely suggest you reconsider your purchasing habits next month, and whether you can afford penalty charges, or the next bargain that comes along.

It is not the fault of Littlewoods you sought to take advantage to an obvious error on their website and moved beyond your financial means as far as your current account is concerned.
