as a matter of interest as you don't think its offensive to cal a Japanese man a "jap" would you also call a man from Pakistan by the shortened form of their countries name and if not why?

I imagine they get it wrong - in either direction - from time to time.

Like you I am going on opinion, and hearsay. But the police are forced to take racist and homophobic incidents seriously, and they are scared not to.

No!!! How can you not know this? The court does not make the determination, the victim decides if it is investigated as racist...the Police gather the evidence and the CPS prosecute (or not) based on what they have the best chance on securing a conviction. The courts decide if someone is innocent or guilty...that's all.

Well, if you cannot understand that point, I think you should either go back to school or give up these debates. There is a world of difference between saying "You're wrong" and "I don't agree".

"You're wrong" in relation to an opinion smacks of self importance and lack of respect for anyone who doesn't agree with you and, oh, so many other things I don't have the time to list them.

They damn well should take racist and homophobic incidents seriously.

And if they won't do it out of a sense of upholding the law in a fair and impartial manner then maybe they should be scared not to.
