No, no, and once more no. You said...

You can keep saying that as long as you like but I have correctly stated the situation. You just repeat that I'm wrong and state it differently.
Whether that is because of stupidity or dishonesty it's impossible to tell.By the way, what does “sophisty” mean, unless of course you mean sophistry?
It's a typo. Congratulations on spotting it.There was subtleness in the statement I made but no falsenessAnd an egotistical megalomaniac to boot who finds the thought of anyone else having an opinion acceptable only when it has been provided by you in the first place.
The best they have come up with is a wikipedia article that tends to say to opposite. :rotfl:A liar, a cheat and an obvious racist - possibly homophobic too (although perhaps with one foot out of the closet)? Not to mention a coward that runs away at the first sign of a fight - cries to his mommy when things are not going his way.
Mmmm, yes, plenty of evidence of my running away. Not!
I don't know why you keep posting falsehoods like this. You're worth it!There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
. . . . . . Except that none of the 'PC bully-boys' in this thread have proved their assertion.

I posted the Wikipedia article in support of it being ambiguous and not condoning the rights or wrongs of the term 'Jap', and I'm on your side for free thinking and opinion. Thanks for the compliment, NOT.

I wasn't referring to you.
Much earlier in the thread I asked one of the 'PC bully-boys' to provide some evidence to support his assertion.
He posted the Wikipedia section that didn't support his case at all.
You just happened to repost the same section later but you actually had the intelligence to realise that it did not support the assertion that 'Jap' was offensive, here.
So you were not one of the 'bully boys'. Sorry for any confusion..There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
the wiki article says its "generally regarded as an ethnic slur". To me that seems pretty conclusive, true it does say its worse in America however at no point does it say that its not racist in the UK. A poster with a Japanese husband says both her husband and his friends all regard it as an insult, however this is being ignored by the 'racist' minority on this forum. Its far easier to dismiss casual racism by denying it is racist. At the end of the day you would not refer to a Japanese person as a 'jap' to their face, if you are not prepared to use the term in that situation then deep down you realise its unacceptable. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. The Wikipedia article is clearly written from a US perspective. That is the essence of this argument.
You are trying to force us to take a US approach to a simple abbreviation that has no history of being used in a racist manner in this country. I'm pretty sure that any Japanese who express a similar opinion are, likewise, taking their clue from elsewhere.
The US has a long history of racism towards the Japanese that we, here, do not.
That is to say that there is no history of using 'Jap' to always mean something negative and 'Japanese' to always mean something that is not negative. The former is, and always has been, a simple abbreviation for the latter.
The fact that a very tiny number of posters on this forum have taken it into their heads that it is racist does not make it so.
For it to be 'racist' you will need to convince a large majority of the population that it is so such that only those who wish to be identified as racist will use it. Just stating it is racist not make it so.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
A particular poster who knows not a single Japanese person and knows that in parts of the world "Jap" is seen as racist cannot see that.
Of course, a Japanese person is going to say "He called me a Jap...but it's okay...he's British so that makes it non-offensive". What does the recipient care about the nationality of the person making the insult? Nothing!
But then, what can you expect of someone that can only resort to petty insults rather than a comprehensible argument.• "A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."
• "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen."
