As it is, the reference is still outstanding and the job could be withdrawn because of the length of time it's taken so far.
No beforehand. My mum challenged a reference from one of her line managers through a union because the headteacher made a number of untrue personal comments and she told her what she was going to say, she was made to remove them and write a fair reference which is what she should have got in the first place.0 -

She had the call transferred to her office and spoke to them for less than a quarter of an hour.
Then they called me stating that they weren't going to offer me the job at all.
B!tch. :mad:Gingernutty wrote: »Yeah, when it's written and submitted.

It was by 'phone, there was nothing in writing.
When I emailed TM, last week, to set up a meeting, she replied that it was inappropriate and that any reference would be honest and fair.
I forwarded it to the Union Rep and since then have had no reply from the Union Rep or TM's line manager. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
I received a 'phone call telling me that, due to unsatisfactory references the job offer has been withdrawn.
The call came from one of the people who would have been managing me - she was very sympathetic, was very sorry as I'd done so well in the assessment and she gave me detailed instructions on who to write to within their HR dept. to get copies of the references. She then wished me all the best for the future.
So, on the way to work tonight, I'll post the request letter and take it from there.
Until I know what's been written about me, I can't challenge anything.Pfffft!

I am so sorry to hear that.0 -
Well, at least you've got the chance now to see the references, and can then challenge them.Signature removed for peace of mind0

I met my temporary boss this morning as she relieved me from the night shift and signed my time sheet.
She was amazed that she could count on me for the coming summer - she cheerfully described what she put in the reference that she submitted - all good, positive stuff which was cheered me up to hear.
She and old TM meet occasionally. That might be an interesting conversation. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
I've just been invited to an interview. At the hospital where I currently work! :j
As it's only a part time clerical position it would fit in well with the occasional night shift I'm currently working. :j
And it's not got anything to do with the job I used to do under my TM, so she can't beat me over the head with that email. :j
I'm finishing a night shift on Friday morning, I can deliver my time sheet, spruce up and I'll go into the interview at 11am. No issues about getting there on time or anything. Woo hoo! :j:huh: Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Have you managed to get hold of a copy of the references yet?
If there was anything defamatory on them due to the old TM, then I'd be sending a letter of complaint and potentially thinking about suing for lost earnings!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Nope. Not heard a word. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

The interview went well; in the feedback later that day, one of the interviewers told me that the interview went very well. There was nothing that she could put her finger on, but there were two ahead of me who did better.
There's one definite job, one possible job which they're waiting to hear about funding for and they've got candidates for the (possibly) two jobs. However, should one of them not take up the offer of the job, they'll call me.
On the plus side, I've been given extra shifts that'll take me through July and that's before my current boss asks around the other night shift workers to see if want any time off over the summer months. Great stuff. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0
