I had to look it up on Amazon (before I got to the page with the pic on!!) Shows how domesticated I am, must say I lost interest when I found out it was only a mixer!! For that price I thought it was really something exciting!!:D

    It is to bakers:rotfl::rotfl:

    kim thanks yes it does:D
Update-told OH the cost, he said fine does not need to know, if I want it have it, it is not permission I need off him, if I feel that it would be useful to me go ahead no probs, didn't bulk at the price tag, was perfectly happy and so tomorrow let us see if it is to be or not to be:D

Then kenwood is on offer sometimes in eg Argos but to be honest I find the ka much better looking.
It's a good second if you don't get ka at discounted £.
Like I say don't bother with the splash guard, use a tea towel wrapped round ( for icing sugar) or someone suggested a shower cap over bowl!
The bowl that comes with it is more than adequate and in time u may buy the
    extra bowl.
I use my couple of times a week. I'm glad I bought it when I did otherwise the classic is £250 full price or £400+ for artisan model and I couldn't justify buying at the higher prices.

Thanks kim I appreciate your time to post, have been googling and looking at Argos/currys reviews and I get what everyone is saying about there are others and there are many makes out there but this one seems to be used a lot in USA/on demos on youtube, gets excellent reviews and to be honest maybe I am jumping the whole rung of the ladder right to buy the top one first but see it as a future investmenst rather than buying others and spending out that way and ending up with the one that has 5 stars which is this one..

I have some argos vouchers I could use but want this one...

I have seen the artisan ones priced at over £400 to £500 that is way out of my league, a piece of beauty but as far as the reviews go apart from the slight speed/slight larger bowl it is not too far removed from the classic which even chefs/professionals seem to favour, sure I would love a coloured one but hey my kitchen is white anyway:D

I am thinking of my ghd here, I had others remington, etc from argos or boots or ebay etc but they kept breaking and eventually one day when enough was enough bought ghd, very expensive, uhmmed and harred but never regretted it for one minute, had them for years and they have never let me down, long term worth every penny:D

I agree about both ( Ive had ghds for 10 years and nothing has been as good).

I love baking and couldnt do without my Kenwood. Mixing stuff without a proper mixer is a pain and makes your arm ache and it doesnt blend stuff as well. You can also make american style cupcake frosting in minutes with one of these.

When my Grandad died my Mum asked me was there anything I wanted when they went to clear out his house. I said all the holiday videos he made, photo albums, and his Kenwood chef because I like baking.

I had no idea until I was in John Lewis one day how much they cost!! I seriously thought they were about 50quid! He must have had it for around 10 years, possibly more and Ive been using it for 5. So its definitely an investment.

So if you want the KA, get it as you will use it tons if you like baking.

Plus a decent Kenwood can be around £200/£250. I'm tempted to ask my Dad for this tomorrow for mine and OH's Christmas, was toying with an Actifry but I'd LOVE a Kitchenaid, although is it the Artisan model does anyone know?

    That is just sooo sexy.

Well absolutely, it is not permission, it is respect for OH for our finances, for his opinion, there is never a time he says 'oh no you can't have that' because that would be counter productive , can't have means I will have because he said I can't;) no he is not like , he was quite happy and chirpy on the phone about it, just I think someo f the posters are spot on when they say a man would think £20 for a mixer down argos not £150 for one:eek::rotfl::rotfl:

Ha I already know the conversation if I asked my OH if we could get one of those

"kitchen aid? KITCHEN AID?? Aren't those about 400 quid?? FOUR HUNDRED QUID FOR A MIXER??"

"no, £150 actually, Amazon have a sale on"

"£150? BARGAIN! Hurry up and order one before they are all gone"

    :rotfl:
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
