  • I have ALWAYS wanted one of these! I can't wait to finish uni so I can invest in one!

I don't think I'd be able to not tell me OH, but I would put together a persuasive (sp) argument as to why WE NEED IT!!!!!

Soooo...it makes dough basically...And then you have buy the accessories extra, like the pasta maker in the video. Seems really expensive for a mixer, even a good one! For that price, I'd want it to mix, chop, blend, grate...and possibly bring me a cup of coffee in the morning! lol

EDIT: I've just looked up the pasta attachment and it's around £80 on its own!!!! Eeeekkk!

OH rang up before and chatting I said was thinking of getting the kitchenaid from black friday amazon tomorrow when it comes up, he said fine if that is what you want get it but he never asked the price, if he knew he probably would not say yes so readily:rotfl::rotfl:

When he comes home I should really tell him how much it actually is (149.99:eek: £100 off tomorrow though:D) I know I should tell him, it is hell of a lot of money, do you distort the truth a little on high purchase prices?

Oh and before everyone goes  at the price was going to sell 3 items I have on ebay and from previous watching their selling would just about cover it so it is just a case of 3 items selling for 1 item purchased.

Yes, I could put the money to much better use, I do feel guilty

Why the need to lie? Or distort the truth about the price. You are an adult, you dont actually need his permission to buy something.

Only you know your household budget and how your finances are worked out. If you cant afford it then I guess dont buy it. If you can and you know it is something that you will use loads then it is an investment isn't it.

My husband and I have joint accounts for bills and monthly spends like food shopping etc. Then we have our own accounts. Provided we dont go mad and avoid getting into stupid debt, then what we do with our money is our individual business. I could not be in a relationship where I needed someones permission to treat myself. Good lord I gave that up when I left home in my teens.

Victory, this is one of those occasions when the term "need to know" comes to mind ....... I REALLY need this item ....hubby doesn't need to know the price ! ;)

As long as it doesn't break the budget (completely ;) ) then - GO FOR IT!!

I am sitting here thinking that I need it and he needs to know the price for honesty purposes but I can counter act all of that with the knowledge if I get it I will not NEED to buy another kitchenaid for a very very long time saving us so much money over the years:rotfl::D

I think it's just common decency, regardless of who's money, mines or his, if I was planning on spending £150 on something I'd discuss it with my partner first, not to ask permission but to have his opinion on it.

Xmas we do ball park figures so we know how much each member gets and know the bank can take the hit, if we did not do that, come the new year we would be in trouble, always good to keep finances in check. don't believe in having xmas on the never never, so this tomorrow is a very big bank hit that is neither a xmas present, a need or budgeted for, apart from ebay sells, needs to be talked about that is for sure:D

Why lie? I don't get it. You can't say you've discussed it with him if he hasn't had the full facts - that he's said "Go ahead" is irrelevant if you have deliberately withheld the price from him.

If it were me, I would tell my husband - it's his money too and I don't think it's on to spend it without consulting him (and consulting someone means not hiding information from them). I would be deeply unimpressed if it were done to me.
