Well if he doesn't ask, don't offer the information

A kitchenaid for £149.99 you say? Bad victory

He's not your dad. You're a grown woman running a your own household. Why feel guilty for deciding to buy something? Or is it the fact you lied that you feel guilty about?
If he came home with a games console, told you what it cost, and you later found out that it cost more, would you feel outraged and betrayed? Or would you shrug and smile at him for being a lovable scallywag?0 -
No no no no no.
This is going to make me buy one
Oh and no idea about the Q, as I am single so not best placed to offer OH suggestions :rotfl:0 -
If I earned my own money and this was coming out of my spends, no way would I volunteer the price. If it was coming out of a joint budget for household items, then maybe, but if I were selling things to cover part of it, maybe not.
I went through a stage of removing the itemised bit of my credit card statement and only showing DH the total to be paid when I was younger, as I didn't see why I should be questioned on what I spent my own money on, so long as it was within the limits we had agreed for ourselves. I certainly didn't question him on his spending at that time. Things are a bit different now I am a SAHM though...0 -
Id just tell him the price, but then again as I so rarely buy anything for myself I think my DH would be ecstatic that I had finally bought something expensive . . . . would make him feel justified in all the gadgets HE has to have :rotfl:
If your making the money elsewhere, not through the family budget he cant really moan anyway

london So far I have not lied because was not asked the price, he said I could have it but no price was disclosed.
In this household yes iti s a joint account but we have an unwritten rule that anything other than the usual food shop, household items etc we discuss, over £ we work out if we can afford it etc, I would not expect him to come home with a games console or anything expensive because we would have talked about it same as we have just done the kitchenaid minus the price:D
But you haven't talked about it, have you? Let's face it, most guys would hear "mixer" and think about £20. So, no, it's not fair to hide the price of it since you would expect him to discuss it with you before buying something expensive. It works both ways!
And I think it doesn't matter that you are selling stuff to get the money for it, since you have joint finances, it's HIS stuff too.
Tell him. Not doing so is devious IMO.0 -

What me buy it for him for xmas?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I've never lied about the price of something, but i did once tell my Mum it was probably better she didn't ask about the price of something and she never has - if you're asked tell the truth, if you're not asked, don't make him any the wiser, but chances are the person already knows the price, not like Amazon has an official secrets act type thing about it
