I suppose it's another case of the few, spoiling things for the many

Can't understand why Stoke-on-Trent Council doesn't recycle it? Staffordshire Moorlands Dictrict Council - which as you know isn't far - does.

    Hi Guys,

Just wondered if anyone knows if Tesco are still offering Clubcard points for recycling, and where I can find my local participating store.

I have been looking all over the tesco/tesco green websites, but cant find a single thing !

    Thanks,

    Gill xx

They are still doing the recycling. My OH just bought a new mobile from Tesco Extra and they gave him a leaflet about recycling old phone for points. Doesn't seem as good a deal as I remember though so I may go to Boots and recycle my phone instead.

What about the actual Recycling bins ? I seem to recall there being something on here about it being 1 point for every 2 items trialled at certain stores.

Ive mounds of glass, paper and plastics waiting to be recycled.

Oh, I've never heard of that one. Sorry. Would be great if they did. Loads more points. Sorry I can't be more help though. There is a board on here about how to earn more Tesco Points. Try asking on there.

Here's the most recent thread on recycling at Tesco:

they've apparently just started rolling it out according to this thread so it would be quite a u-turn.
  • Hi all,

Just to let you know, though someone may have posted already, that Tesco's all singing and dancing automated recycling machine at my local superstore has changed how it dishes out Clubcard points for what is fed to it. Previously it gave 1 point for every four items, (plastic, glass and cans). Presumably, this is costing them too much as, now, all you get points for are for cans (1 point for each two items). It would seem that they want a better return on their investment as they can recoup monies from scrap merchants (or whoever.)

It's a shame, as apart from being good PR for them, that, the only incentive to recycle these items for many has gone and I can see so much more being thrown back into landfill.

Supermarkets are big business and do nothing for the environment unless they make a profit, shame because theyre the cause of much waste with all their plastic and paper packing and bag, they should provide recycling, they make massive profits so they can spare some or else they should be made to by law.
