Tesco Recycling Machines?
Comments

I found today that they have one at the Baguley (Manchester) store. There was a massive queue to use them though...0

Visitors to the Pitsea and Langdon Hills stores have told me these stores do not register points for the machines and a phone call to customer services confirmed this was the policy. The Tesco site http://www.tescocorporate.com/customers2.htm
now says "We are also undertaking a trial where customers are given the incentive of Green Clubcard Points for the waste that they recycle in the unit.". I don't know when it became a trial but it certainly doesn't say anything about it by the machines. I'll happily switch to Asda for my shopping and leave the recycling out for collection if my local store drops the points.0 -
My local store ( Milbrook, Southampton) has these machines and you do indeed get 1 green clubcard point for every four items recycled (although the number of points you actually receive is a bit hit and miss). You can recycle glass, cans and plastic bottles and it's surprising how quickly the points add up. I didn't realise this was only a trial- it's been there for over a year....

New automatic recycling at Tesco stores
Almost all of our larger stores have recycling facilities for you to use. To make things even easier, we’re introducing automatic recycling machines that do all the sorting for you. All you have to do is tip it in and it will sort through plastic, glass and metal at an incredible rate of around 80 products a minute. There are 27 at stores across the country, with more to comeTesco recycling centres

One in Pompey (North Harbour) and it (now) accepts clubcards and should give 1 point per 4 items.0

I had never heard of these until I went to Tesco at Winchester (next to the M3). What a fantastic idea.
My local Tesco has bins for plastic, glass, cans, clothes and paper but no cardboard (which is the most difficult to get rid of for me), especially now that the local council, in its wisdom, decided to put height restricters on the dump entrance.0 -
they have one in Meir Park (stoke on trent) too although they dont do plastic0

Just had this reply from Tesco customer services as I asked if I would be awarded clubcard points for recycling:
Thank you for your email.
I'm sorry to advise customers will no longer be able to gain points for
Recycling. The reason for this is customers are cutting up items into small
pieces and feeding them all through separately to gain additional points.
Thanks for contacting us.
Looks like I'll be leaving the recycling for the local council to collect if that's the case.
