  • Yeah definitely does - I normally save them up and take them down there by the sack. If your doing it for points only - then steel cans do not equal points - (i.e. Tango, 7up, Pepsi etc) only the aluminium cans (i.e. coke!)

I noticed the difference in cans and points, Pepsi Max werent being given points, coming up as steel. Was gutted as we hundreds of the bleeders _pale_ lol

Oh happy memories of the days when everything was points and people came with van loads of recycling.
Everything except "Black Tower" wine bottles that is - was the black bottle really glass - was the content really wine?:D
  • Just curious. Seems these machines are/were really popular but don't people have recycling bins at their homes? Is it really worth the effort for a couple of Tesco points? Our recycling bins save so much time and effort and we now only have to recycle jars and bottles at the local collection point.

It depends how desperate/bored you are.
In the good old days, I experimented with using two machines at once, and discovered I could earn a tax free minimum wage.
Now that the points value of even aluminium cans has been devalued, I doubt even sacks of ali cans could manage that; but I still separate out the ali cans and take those to Tesco. We have a blue wheely bin collection fortnightly that takes all the rest including bottles to a clean "murf".

The recycling boxes we have round here dont take plastic eg yogurt pots so we use the machines at tesco. Ive seen people put cans, jars etc in the machine yet they have a green box to put them in for the council to collect.
